Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Why did they move earnings?

The call was scheduled for the 19th but it's the 31st now. Anything to do with layoffs?

Well, you want to still be on the books to qualify for a bonus if there is one so the layoff week matters

Layoffs wouldn’t occur during Oregon spring break. Usually it’s April before APR events so it allows HR Ops to update the hierarchies prior to going into the planning event. My money is mid to late April.

I doubt it’s next week. They would have announced it today to start laying people off on a wfh Friday.

@b2 His 1st sentence was 'changes coming', I wouldn't be surprised, but it seems to feel like week of march 23rd. But then again, why keep people waiting that long, essentially ki-ling 2 weeks of productivity

only 1 way to find out, wait and see, oh the joy and the fun. Maybe they should butter us up with a JDI day again, get beer'd up, then can us the next day, gee, that was fun

I'm speculating like everyone else but Mar 9 – Mar 13 seems too early given AB just held a meeting today telling everyone he doesn't know anything. He's going to come off either as a liar or an id--t if layoffs happen a couple of days right after he said he doesn't know anything.

thru Mar 8 Final internal prep; sensitive HR meetings with top-tier leadership.
Mar 9 – Mar 13 Main Notification Wave: heaviest week for 1-on-1 meetings at PHK.
Mar 31, 2026 Earnings Call: Post-notification "Town Hall" for remaining staff follows within 24 to 48 hours of this date.
June 1, 2026 FY27 Start: Most departures are aimed to be finalized by the start of the new fiscal year.

300 Million charge incurred for 'ending Feb 28, 2026', this was for the layoffs up to the end of Feb, but could also include some more layoffs in March.
I think they pushed out the earnings call to account for the 'realignment' through Q3 and into Q4....and they could, read, will, have another 'charge', that will be for the year end earnings call, another 300M charge likely.....that would be about 1200 roles with rough math....seems about right / on par. So May will be round #2, and this March for round #1

That means small one in March, big one in May.....this is complete guess work based on public articles and internal rumblings, so take it with a grain of salt!

It's so layoffs announcement can bring a bump to the stock price. My assessment is that layoffs will have been done by then. Wall Street likez that kind of announcement.

Elliott has a “plan alongside a new leadership phase with an emphasis on streamlining operations.” So does this mean we can get rid of the btlickers that make up fake work and fake teams? They sure as he-l aren’t streamlining anything and they really add ZERO value. You would be better off just hiring a few more Admins. They are trying real
hard to “look busy” while they create b
lsh** work for teams that have real work. It’s almost fraudulent.

@ae
they will just call them something else
the point is that the US ponzi scheme is about to crash
unless we do some crazy sh-t like buying greenland or controlling
all the world's oil (remember it is called the petrodollar for a reason)

Gives us a chance to refurbish and sell the shoes in the recycle boxes around campus, and include in earnings.

I asked myself the same question. Why?
I think it has something to do with the nike ESPP. The final date for participating is 26 March. So just before the earnings. By changing the earning call they can manipulate the stock market a bit when the news hits the shareholders hard....

@a6 That would be to kind, the mental anguish and suffering is the point of the exercise. The layoffs will continue until morale improves.

I don't get this, they gottz to know that any sort of productivity is now completely gone, how can anyone really be focused to do anything useful at this point?
Thoughts?

Shouldn't they really just make the cuts on a friday without notice and call it one and done, why drag it out??

My guess is layoffs will be between the 19th and the 31st so they can announce “restructuring” during earnings in the hopes of getting a stock bump.
