Management is pressuring to stop severence now only in rare cases. With the revised year end process, management is making it all about performance. If you are deemed partial or not meeting in any sense, you are subject to dismissal with no severence. It can be for anything. If a project fails and wasnt your fault, too bad. Guilty by association. Yes, they CAN get away with this. Goal is 20% reductions with no severence.
Something bigger is definitely afoot.

Yes that is true. It happened to me. I was forced into lower 20%. I was not given any severance. Luckily I found a job within a short time. Glad I am out of this toxic company. It is one of the worst companies I have ever worked in

Does no severance also mean your RSUs lapse too?
I recently separated from BNY in early summer '25 and was offered severance. I thought this entire ordeal was bogus and mismanaged.
Now that I read future terminations may not receive severance, my opinion of BNY being a 3-tier firm and their various levels of leadership being spinless weasels has not changed.

Consider yourself lucky if you were let go in the Feb, May or September rounds. They all got something. You will get nada! Sad state this place.
