Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

I will jump out of my skin before it's over

I can't keep myself occupied enough with anything to ease the anxiety I feel. A completely sh---y weekend. I hope beyond hope to get to keep the job, because everything is as it is at the moment.

@a5 'Why? Don't you have enough savings to buy you time to find a new job?"

Cuz I work 60+ hour weeks and never get pay raises, bonuses or promotions
since 2011.

@OP - I feel for you. I remember years ago how stressful it was leading up to my Oracle RIF, it was torture. Oracle is an ugly, ruthless company.

Right now, just try to relax but also get your resume updated right now. Start applying for jobs immediately and be sure to network with your current or former colleagues. The IT job market is in bad shape, so be realistic and expect it to be a challenge to find work.

@a5 “Why? Don't you have enough savings to buy you time to find a new job?” What a sh---y thing to say to someone venting about a horrible situation, maybe SOME need to be rif’d anyways..

That's an awful place to be in, not knowing, with all this cr-p that's going on. Maybe I was one of the lucky ones, I got let go in September and have severance (that won't last forever). Oracle has had layoff so many times in the 25+ years I'd been there, but this one is so different, of course it's going to be nerve-wracking.

Just breathe. Breathe deep. I wish I could help, but all I can do is provide some advice:

Take care of yourself, breathe. Make sure your resume is updated and includes your experience and if at all possible results/impact of your work. And network. Stay in touch with friends, family, anyone you know who work at various places, because if you are caught up in this, you will need your network like never before.

And best of everything to you!
