What's the rule???????

No vacation isn’t paid out unless you live in a state that requires it (mn and the vast majority do not). Target views vacation time as a “gift” so it’s not paid out if you leave for any reason. I think they didn’t like how much they paid in 2015
@ah the exception on vacation payouts are for L5 and below. If you retire you get any unused vacation hours. If you are let go, these same pay grades get paid for unused vacation if they are of retirement age.
@a4 It depends on your level. L6 and above have unlimited PTO, L5 and below still accrue PTO.
@ad my understanding is that they won’t pay it out anymore since making changes in 2016 or 2017. If a state requires payout, then they have to. But MN doesn’t.
The 2015 RIF resulted in millions of owed vacation was paid out. After that, multiple steps were taken to prevent a repeat.
- A new pool of vacation with new rules
- No more use a week/get a week paid out
- Eventually, a single pool of PTO - no more vacation, personal days, and 4 hours of mental/me time
- No more vacation paid out, with limited exceptions: legal requirements, retirement, death
@a4 L5 and below still accrue vacation. It’s disgusting if Target doesn’t pay that out.
The trend has been that if you meet the criteria for “retired” status, you would get any PTO accrued.
I thought we had unlimited PTO so no vacation accrues?
They take they pay you in target gift cards, but you can only buy leftover tuck swimwear and guy makeup with it.
No, they are not legally required to in MN and do not pay vacation out. Some states such as CO require it by law so it depends on where you live.
