Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

To me this whole thing just craps.

I don’t know about you but I bust my hump working long hard and nonstop rapid pace. I eat at my laptop and I’m feeling like no matter how good or great or exceptional it’s never going to be enough. Add this and sprinkle in AI and globalized competing for jobs but I don’t know how I’ll survive all of this. Literally abc figuratively.

@a3 I agree completely. Never sacrifice your health, extra time, family, or life for your company. You're just a number. Stop expecting anything else from your company.

i eat at my desk almost everyday. Oh but since I work from home. There was a mandate that everyone returns to the office. 10 min after the email, my boss send a message saying....doesn't apply to you. The manager of the building asked one day...are you in? I said no...do I need to be? He said...if not an issue, come in to talk to some VIPs from corporate. So I did. Got dressed...drove in...30 min later back home.

@a6 you clearly do not work at Fid or in finance in any form. I’m guessing cashier at Walmart with trolling on the side.

@a2 oh brother. Go work where there's a union somewhere. You can have 10,000 cigarette breaks, stage work slow downs and file grievances up the wazoo.

Please grow up. The company owes you nothing. You're not entitled to anything. You work, you get paid. If you don't like the work or need more money, work elsewhere.

Your expectations beyond this is the real problem.

People who eat at their desks and don't take breaks, like you, put pressure on others.
