Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

RTO USA & Canada for now, rest to follow

"The direction is global, but implementation may vary by country to account for local laws and regulations..."

So EMEA is next once they get Work Councils sign off

@e4 They're looking to terminate without WARN compliance requirements...

No one care if you are coming into the office. It all about finding people who can’t or won’t comply and terminating them with no severance. The ELT is looking for ways to terminate employees that don’t use AI.

@a2 Yes. February 2027 is the date that virtual employees within 31 mi of an office in the US and Canada must be reporting to the office 5 days a week. However, despite that timeline, current virtual employees who have been tagged to return to the office in February 2027 will have outreach from HR and be required to accept that role. I'm sure that these people will say sure I'll return to the office in February 2027 all while they answered for a new job.

It will be fun in the morning when 50 EVs turn up looking for a charge.

@ak What a sh---y, crab bucket mentality. This RTO stuff is just three layoffs wearing a trenchcoat. It's got nothing to do with productivity, and it never has.

@ak

And nothing says "innovation" more than desperately clinging to how things were done a century ago...

@ak people used candles at work and road there in horses. Just because we did it in thr past does not mean we need to do it again.

Has been done in the office for 100 years. Studies have proved people are more productive in the office vs. working at a home office.

No it's global now for people who are already hybrid. The delay is only for people moving from virtual to office
