Manager not managing

Do anybody else have a manager who pawn you off to your colleagues? As a new hire this manager responds with go ask so and so. I’m not trying to bother others who have are busy. His employees say he doesn’t have answers. That’s why he directs them to them.

My former manager never once did a coaching for me to talk about growth and development despite my numbers being fine at the time. I figured the coaching would come later but once I saw the rest of my team get one along with the newer hires I knew something was up.

The company has its perks if I’m being unbiased, it’s certain leads and managers (or the absence of) is what makes it unbearable moreso than the customers

@a1 No he’s been a manager for 7 years. Those who worked with him before he got promoted said he was an under-performer who now exaggerates how “great” he was in his previous role lol

@OP sounds like Josh Matteo in WIM. Biggest POS at WF.

Embrace it and figure out the answers on your own. That’s the only way to get stuff done.

This is the wells fargo way. Even non managers have cought on, you can literally just pass things on to others because there is absolutely no accountability for anyone. Its hilarious to watch first hand.

Most managers do this. It's rampant at WF. Literally everyone is passing the buck on some level. It's no wonder efficiency ratio is so bad. Sadly, they lay off really good people who are actually getting stuff done, but then keep these "managers" around, who will continue to just pass the buck.

Many managers apply for the position because it's " being a manager." Which doesn't necessarily mean they have knowledge of the job, but just "managing." Good managers will do their best to learn the job so they can be an asset to the team. While others could care less, they just want the paycheck. They are the ones who push you off on someone else because they don't have the answer and don't care to learn.

They haven't promoted people to management based on their knowledge for years. I can't count the number of times that people with knowledge and tenure were passed over to promote someone who was not knowledgeable, and/or had only been with the company for a year or so. Unfortunately they many of them were useless. They always have to go to us lesser workers for answers. They would then play if off as it was their own knowledge or use our ideas and present them to upper management as their own.

This is extremely common here @ WF, most of these "managers" have 1 skillset and inherit another team they have no idea about. And these "managers" are not even interested in learning what the new team does. So you get that scenario when new hires are looking for guidance.
