Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Offshoring

Chevron Employee here who just went through all the layoffs here. I bet they are going to send IT and other functions overseas. If you are tired of this garbage contact your congressman. It might not help but they need to hear about it.

The overhead for the DEI team may be insignificant but the cost of their actions and initiatives is devastating.

@av
those mentioned companies will steal data and shift it across their contracts with other majors as they shift resources across all the majors. they work for all of them. And so do the consultants making the recommendations.

India or Bartlesville, I don't see much difference.
I might write to my state congressman about all those jobs in Oklahoma.

A lot of IT is already delivered out of India. Nothing new to see here.

ExxonMobil got rid of most of the Accounting employees at Denbury and Pioneer when the ra--d and pillaged those 2 companies. They sent the work to South America.

IT services will be delivered through companies such as PwC and LTI, with the execution primarily performed by teams based in India. The percentage of layoff in IT organization can be much higher as 40-50%.

ExxonMobil and then Chevron have opened engineering centers in India and are firing engineers in the US as fast as they can. They have quit recruiting from universities they hired from for decades. We are next to follow the pattern. Thank the consultants.

Its the principle of doing something that is very visible that isn't value add. There are 600 ideas for saving money, not a few large ideas. Its the amalgamation of many small savings to add up to $1B.

One could argue the same about all the Networks. They shouldn't have a budget at a minimum, but they would also still be spending on people's wasted time at work.

The Diversity team is a laughably small spend in the grand scheme of things. Talking a couple hundredths of a percentage point of the amount we’re trying to save. Go be stupid somewhere else.

@a1 in the town hall they did say "try something and if it doesnt work stop doing it" paraphrasing there. So how much $ could be saved if we stopped the DEI cr-p?

We we're just told it won't happen under Ryan. They will wait 6 months for him to retire and for DEI hires to do it instead.
