…for JDI day? Do you feel like they should’ve canceled it like wellness week?

@q7 profit sharing was ditched in a supposed company vote to raise base wages over that bonus, which we definitely saw go up during covid, but it was all a ruse because wages were going up anyways.
@ab in that case it's countrIES..
@q7 Correct. They got rid of the 401k profit sharing benefit to invest in Wellness week. The four remote weeks were left over to "help" with RTO push in '23. Then EH pretended those benefits were somehow given to us and only relevant in a pandemic and broke out the crocodile tears.
Didn't they get rid of 401k profit sharing to institute wellness week? Then, when everyone "forgot" about that, they ended wellness week.
@a5 couldn’t agree more.
@ae well said. JDI day is only really good/quality when there’s money to spend, and even that, unfortunately the lines to everything is awful and waste of time. Now that there isn’t money, the last few are nothing more than a middle school field day experience with lines.
If likeminded, don’t show.
I'd much rather have the 4 remote weeks back than JDI or wellness week. Last two are obviously an expense, the remote weeks were not and removing them only further lowered morale.
Lets be real here. You can't win. If JDI Day were cancelled, people would be complaining NIKE takes everything from them.
JDI day is a joke. I goof off inside while my coworkers are out at the party.
@b9 is spot on… all the laid-off geniuses are rage-downvoting because the truth hurts.
@b9 Yes Nike is a for profit company. It should act like one. Stop pretending as if you care for people. Stop saying on LinkedIn that people care for Nike.
What is the total cost of these back to back layoffs ?? So many stalled, unfinished projects. So many people demoralized and demotivated. What's the cost ?
@b9 what you said it 100% correct, but that doesn’t change the fact JDI day right now would be totally tone deaf and hard to justify financially with what’s going on.
Do you guys remember the Oscar level waste of money of the JDI day JD did before he left?
Nike is a for-profit company in a capitalist country, not a commune. If you lost your job, update your résumé and go find another one. nobody’s obligated to subsidize your life choices.
And if you still work here, maybe spend less time whining and more time doing the job you’re paid for. Otherwise, the door works both ways.
@OP JDI day will have you invite you to cafeteria and everyone will come out with Layoff package through side door!!!
This is effiecient way for Nike to do a mass Layoff!!
Wait!! Wait! Nike has done that before!! Now, they got it down to science?
JDI Day is a colossal waste of money! Let's use this money to compensate employees that are already feeling the crunch these days with the price of gas, food, etc. No one wants to stand in line with a drink coupon and possibly get some freezer food from catering. Such an over-hyped event that always falls flat!
I come back to Maslows Hierarchy of Needs.
The bottom layer - fundamental health and security are at risk daily at Nike. The nervous system can’t catch a break.
But let’s invest money in the top of the pyramid??? Many here now have a scarcity mindset. We don’t want to rock a boat for fear we won’t have a job and thereby healthcare in this economy. But let’s have a budget blowout of a party.
Want to invest in culture? Start with trust. Start with giving up your salaries and give it to those that are out in a horrible job market.
For real it’s like having a Barbecue at a funeral…
Like read the country (usually I’d say room but there were people laid off everywhere).
Can't wait for EH to bring out the crocodile tears again just in time for JDI day
Should be canceled. If we don’t have the time or money for Wellness Week, we don’t have it for that circus.
And let me give a preemptive F U to anyone who comes at me with “culture” or “it brings us together”.
Remind me what they are celebrating? EH hasn’t made a peep in like 6 months, is he still running the company?
Might as well have cancelled it. Morale is at an all time low. There’s nothing left to celebrate after many were laid off
