Convention

I wish all our customers could see the amount of money this company spends on the convention. I work on it and see the amount of money and entitlement. Over $100 million, luxurious suites, personal drivers for execs, alcohol flowing, private concert (Pink) and arrogance on full display. They share the same message every convention, unveil new commercials and act like it’s all new. We are modernizing, get ready. My wish is they would get called out for spending policyholder money to throw a party for themselves in Las Vegas.

Wonder if they invited the former CEO as special guest this year or if he is truly persona non grata.

Bring on the Convention Debauchery in Vegas. Running extensive bar tabs with colleagues & execs, opening markers in the high-limit rooms, having room service in our suites, and all while spending a week away from the office. Life Is Good!

I know what convention looks like. I've been to the last four and have worked on the last four! It does cost over a $100 million AND they say the same thing every convention. “We are going to modernize our systems.” “it S digital plus agent” “agents get ready to learn the new technology” and “its all about the customer”. Same message for last 15 years or 4 conventions and next week the message will be the same.

Sad that we can't think of anything new to say. Even worse they are okay spending all this money when we have lost #1 and treat customers and employees horribly.

Some of you have some pretty crazy ideas about what Convention looks like. It’s never been “all expenses paid”, and it’s getting less so. I’m retired now, but still get the REFLECTOR in the mail. This year, even the hotel rooms can get charged back to the agent if they don’t meet all the micromanaging requirements. Agents have always made and paid their own travel, and got paid a mileage allowance if they meet requirements.
The 100 year anniversary convention had a much less fun feel to it, and it sounds like this year’s will be even worse.

Convention is for agents in LV

Saleleaders can’t go on vacation immediately after? Where did you hear that?

@v8

Issue isnt having a day for the agents, the issue is having a lavish day for the agents when the company sold all the in office garbage cans to save a buck, not a single cup exists on a state farm campus, and i have to explain to my boss why i got back from lunch 1min after schedule every time it happens.

On one hand its trying to save money at any expense, and the other throwing it out the window on conventions, over priced offices no one wants to commute to, and waste rehiring due to high turnover, as well as overpay on claims due to everyone being new and nearly untrained (due to cost savings)

thats what makes it so egregious, its the same as our customers seeing tipsord getting a massive multi million dollar bonus with his successes ki-ling legacy state farm.

I spent 36 years in claims, underwriting, then agency. Retired two years ago…….came here today for the first time in months just to see what the losers had to say about convention.
As an agent, I sort of enjoyed them. But honestly, all that was really covered was the room and the final night event. IF you sold enough, there was a mileage allowance. But we made our own arrangements and paid the bills. Later, if my ID chip had checked into all the business sessions and stayed throughout…….I got a mileage allowance (that I paid tax on)
It’s not free by any means. But I usually enjoyed some rare time away from the office for a few days. And the now very rare opportunity to actually engage with old friends and colleagues. Agency has become an extremely isolating existence over the past 15 years or so.

@OP sounds like a job for James O'keefe to go under cover with some of these SF execs or agents to find out how deep the money corruption goes.

Its actually gross when you look at this and compare it to your life handling claims in office with maybe an occasional snack cart with cheap junk food and free carbonated sugar water. Disgusting actually.....they are so painfully cheap with us and then spend a fortune on this BS??

It would be great to see the biggest expense be managed! Haha to agents! You have dodged the bullet way too long.

Convention was historically every two years until last decade. Heard from member of prduction team that some agents may not be thrilled with messaging. Hence why sales leaders cant take vacations for three weeks after convention for “damage control “

The annual IBM convention I went to before COVID while working in ET was always something I looked forward to.

Vegas, orlando, san Francisco. All great times. We also had great entertainment brought in. They even rented the pier in San Francisco once for only the convention, having all the restaurants open to provide free food, free entrance to the aquarium, etc .

In Vegas, we had rooms in different years at hilton, MGM, Mandalay bay, Venetian, and others.

If you aren't going to an annual convention, consider changing positions.

It is absolutely abhorrent that this company spends so much money on conventions and social media instead of it's customers and employees that service the customer. It is literally an elitist attitude and condescending to customers!

Which convention is this and they can't even increase my bottom range pay or allow us to continue working from home. For an executive pay and to partayy and talk once in a while, even i'd be okay coming in 24/7. He-l I'll even sleep forever in the office floor

Imagine knowing your premiums went up 75% and they refused to put a roof on your house after your entire neighborhood was wiped out by hail all so they could pay a washed-up rock star millions to dance for them.

Give them enough time they'll hang themselves. The photos of the event should be made public to all the policyholders and general public to show their hypocrisy and disregard for the lack of respect for both the customer and employee.

Beat them at their own game in their own ballpark!
