Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Nevernorth has defeated me

Nevernorth pretty much literally unalived me at this point. 2/19 here we are 4/1 and I can't land a job for the life of me. Only place left to go is 6ft.

@gh I am 100% with you here. It feels like my old self has come back and even though it's April, everyone is sensing it around me IRL. I had to take some time off to reset after an extremely toxic dept. This really has been the best gift - being laid off.

Agree, was let go in January and took some time to breathe after leaving the toxicity and though just getting started looking, feel like I got out of an awful department that was literally ki-ling me, even if not my choice. It’s taken a few months of recompression, but I actually feel like myself again and my family has noticed it, too. I was so stressed out all the time and didn’t even realize it, getting layed off was the best thing that ever happened to me. Feel bad for so many teammates that are now being forced to do the work of all of us that were let go and also given a severance who are now even more stressed out and unlikely to be offered a severance at all, but just forced out from awful conditions or forced to leave independently out of necessity due to the remaining soulless leadership. All the good ones with any leadership ability, talent and integrity were let go or left by now, it’s truly the minions left. I have just started looking but feeling like myself again and hopeful, and so grateful not to be subjected daily to the power tripping cold leaders Cigna has decided is their current leader profile, no thank you. Best wishes to you all, don’t fear leaving or being fired or let go, might just be the path back to yourself and work with teams you feel inspired by not ruled by.

@d6 It's the nature of the market right now. And right now the market also just received a mass dump of massively talented Oracle employees. Just stay patient. I know some laid off workers just taking a year break since the process has just been flat out insulting and d-mb at this moment.

The next administration hopefully will be more pro American jobs.

The job market su-ks out there though. It does indeed feel though as if I am a 600lb being that's applying at every hooters and fashion show possible.

Can we still even get another job anywhere else (are we even hireable by other companies) while on garden leave?

I know things feel heavy right now. But if you’re open to a few gentle compromises, there are still meaningful paths you can explore for your career. And truly — people find their footing in the most unexpected ways. Opportunities have a way of showing up when you stay open. Please remind yourself that you’re not stuck in a toxic environment; you’re probably moving towards something better.

It may feel like all hope is gone, but give it more time. Do what you can, keep looking and know that you WILL find a good job at the right time.

Please consider reaching out to someone to help you work through your experience, because I promise you de@th certainly isn't your next option.

You may feel defeated right now but there is always hope.

Even though these are uncertain times, I try to remind myself Cigna wasn't my first employer and they may not be my last (I'm still here currently) but I've been able to find a job whether it's taking something I'm not used to or switching fields altogether to pay the bills. Sometimes it takes more time ... tomorrow is a new day.

Whoever you are and whatever you are, I'll be praying for you that God would help you through this tough time.

Don't give up!

@OP What state do you live in, many have job referral services. I have also looked at LinkedIn, and Indeed. I found a few part time jobs that are enough to pay the rent and food, in addition to driving for Uber.

Please please know that you are not alone. This is industry wide. Some of the best people I know were let go Feb and Jan. And some genuine losers on the inside and out were allowed to stay because they stole ideas and credit and are great at licking boots.

You do not want to stay at a place like that. You are worth more.
