Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Are you kidding me no bonus

This company has to be one of the worst companies out there. I was let go in October so my 60 day ls notice period ended in December, I’ve worked for wells for over 20 years and I’ve gotten a bonus every year. But nothing this year! This is a low blow even for Wf to take away a bonus for no reason to someone that worked for the company that long.

2025 bonus plan stated you had to be employed on 12/31 to be eligible for a bonus. The 2026 bonus plan states that you have to be employed on the bonus payout day to get the bonus.

What's funny is Wells Fargo paid me a "hiring bonus" to come on board. Then, some time later, after excellent performance, they laid me off! And then some time after my layoff, today I got a YE bonus!!
Everyone should check their deposit accounts to see if you got one or not. Sometimes there are no comms about it.

@bn Right. And it’s at-will employment too. This is more about entitlement as pattern of practice and integrity vs some banal contractual stipulation.

@fv I would add to that that I a lowly manager of several was given direct latitude in the decision. There was some disagreement. My manager wanted to cannibalize the bonus of the former to subsidize the survivors. I said no, on ethical grounds that person earned the bonus (prorated) and deserved it. I prevailed.

@et not true, it’s the senior manager of the line of business that makes the decision. It might be OC +1 or two making the final decision but it’s the senior managers of the line of business making the recommendations and allocating the amounts.

Not manager discretion. OC +1 or +2 decision.

Administrative staff never get bonuses at Wells Fargo ever. It seems very out of the ordinary, as most all companies give their hard working administrative staff bonuses. It demonstrates their lack of appreciation for the hard work & efforts by so many who go above & beyond in keeping the company operations running smoothly. So much for Employee Appreciation. :(

You can thank your manager for it.

"You got let go and expect a bonus? Interesting."
OK so if one was let go due to location, or due to sale of BU, or due to x-x that is not the fault of the employee, the ONLY way I can see a bonus not being deserved is if the person is let go for cause, or for poor performance. Otherwise, YES WE ARE DUE OUR BONUS!!!!!
Some people on this board are simply too obtuse to get it.

@c1 bonuses are paid in February, whether laid off or not. Manager’s discretion to pay.

OP.. the layoff and terminations are all about taking away money to give to the ones favored. That is the definition of Charlie's "efficiency". Since he became CEO it was a slow downhill fall of lowering bonuses. If you can remember job postings first started lowering bonus target, then removed them altogether. As well, there has been a plan to not rehire displaced employees by rolling out forced low performance ratings to justify firing and ridiculous notice periods. Finally, those laid off not getting a bonus earned in order to leave you with no desire to return. Nothing makes sense on how the company is running. It is a crazy world when such poor leaders continue to get richer rewards.

@c1 hate to say, but I think it should’ve been there. Believe me, I get your feeling… You’re not alone

@OP I too was laid off on October 28, 2025. I looked at my paystub and Teamworks and there was no bonus. I am wondering if it will be on my last check on February 28. Can anybody clarify?

@ak+1kh69skmr

Your understanding is not correct. You're not entitled to ANY bonus. It's always described as discretionary, even if you had not been downsized.

@ak
Yes, it is. A bonus is a bonus. It is not guaranteed or required.

So some surviving employees, who likely already feel their bonus growth is lousy vs leadership’s, can feel better knowing their bonus was even upped by a few morsels from the remains of the departed…

Same here - as a former manager I was not surprised. They likely took my bonus and distributed to the "survivors" who now have a higher workload and need some incentive to continue to give up most of their lives for the company until they are no longer needed and dumped. Although I deserved that bonus for all of my successful work - out of sight, out of mind. No reason to continue to delight me.

After I reached age 63 I did not get a bonus. I was in home lending tech for 10 years.

Laid off on 9/30. No letter in the mail, no bonus it seems. If in fact it is up to the individual manager, then it was an active decision not to pay me. Just making it clear for in case I have it wrong. Say last year, I received 20k as a bonus. This year, since laid off on 9/30, I was there for 75% of the year. 20*.75=15k that I was not given.
Please let me know if my understanding is incorrect.

Money given to you is money that can't go to someone else since TVC impacts your future now. It su-ks but you knew it wasn't guaranteed and others should benefit. Otherwise, that money disappears like a fa-t in the wind come next year and goes to a fat cat executive.

My 60 day notice started 10/28. I also received NO bonus after working there 21+ years. no end of year review, but my 2025 mid-year and ALL past reviews were great! I’ve lost respect for the managers in my chain. My only hope is that my portion went to the troops remaining holding the bag of sh**!…They are over worked and always in fear of getting laid off!

It's not 'Wells Fargo'. It's your former boss- it is their decision. I was given a very nice bonus.

If the ex-employee was on an establish bonus program, it's common practice in good companies to pro-rate bonuses and pay the ex-employee...
