Toxic manager posts

For the better part of past 2.5 years, my manager has been "dangling the carrot" in front of me as a promise to give me opportunities but reality is I have to find my own ways to showcase my work.

I have noticed this snake keeps shutting down my thoughts / ideas in group calls.

Apart from that, there's a pattern I noticed of finding ways / excuse to invalidate my work as well as giving a new joinee in the team more opportunities, asking team to reach out to them for assistance (if any).

Is this normal at Fido?

Run for the hills, this manager is in cahoots with the SVP who promote people who su-k up to them. You don't seem to su-k up much, would run away if was in your shoes

Favoritism is the name of the game here because of the flattened hierarchy. It may be they don’t want you on the team but it may be they just don’t like your ideas. Just keep doing your best work regardless and consider outside opportunities because from the sound of this post you’re not happy here.

@a3 "you are not as competent as you think you"

I am in same situation as @OP and certainly can certify there's rampant favouritism across different sites

Sometimes it's not about competence but how good of an a$$ kisser you are.

If you're not good at the later, you better be highly competent, which to me sounds like @OP is.
They can take your responsibilities away but can't take away your knowledge.

So keep your head down and working, don't get involved in dirty political games, once you do you'll be more miserable.
Just smile and make sure you let them know nothing affects you.

Good luck

@OP I don’t think this is normal. On the other hand have you considered the alternative—- which is, you are not as competent as you think you are?
