Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

I think I'm on my way out

Lately, all my main projects have been canceled or pushed aside. My boss has stopped checking in, and other people are being handed responsibilities that used to be mine. If you've been in the workforce for a while, you learn to recognize these signals. My gut is telling me that my job is at risk.

@1qg maybe they were talking about me! I resigned after a very tense zoom meeting with my boss and his boss. They ambushed me. I don’t want to go into the details because it was painful. But I know that it had to a lot to do with being outspoken about DEI.

I quit the day after the layoffs back in October. I was hoping to get laid off and it didn’t happen. I’m really glad to be free of Target. A friend of mine said it was like being unplugged from the matrix, and I think that’s accurate. I really love the work that I did, and I loved my coworkers, but working at target just felt gross.

@yb I’m also hearing that people are being talked to about speaking up. Just sad.

After cult detox, life is much better outside.

@OP this might be for the best. Our store team members are being kidnapped on shift and not a damn thing is being done. I’ve begun looking and will continue to. I can’t morally stomach working here anymore if they are going to stay silent on this situation.

It’s not the same company.
I am waiting to see what BC will say in his farewell email.

Given that an employee of the Richfield store was kidnapped on the clock yesterday by masked men with no explanation and Fiddelke along with all of the leadership remained silent, I think moving on might be a good thing.

Thankfully, the world is bigger than Target, which is not doing so hot right now. Your boss sounds incredibly insecure, but thats typical of most Target leaders right now. As much as you can, don't take it personally.

What would you do instead if there were no obstacles? If you have free time, use it. Use Target’s career resources. Write a list of places or opportunities you want to explore as alternative options. Update your resume. Try to see this as the push you need to move to something better. As much as Target likes to paint itself as the greatest company on Earth, its quite dramatically lost much of its influence this past year. Don’t give up. A door will open for you.
