Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Nearly 1 million were laid off this year

In case people are wondering why the job market is so employee-unfriendly, with so many people laid off and looking for work, including skilled, high-quality candidates, it’s no wonder employers are lowering requirements and lowballing offers. Something tells me things will get worse before they get better.

“H1Bs and illegals are the only ones that really want to work. The rest of us have bad attitudes and want some handout.”

Sounds like some projection there.

Tell us you get your misinformation from the main stream media without telling us.

Who uses jobs lost to measure employment?

Are you slow?

Through November 2025 (the latest available data as of late December):
• The U.S. economy had a net gain of about 499,000 jobs for the year (January through November).
• This was driven almost entirely by the private sector, which added around 687,000 jobs.
• Government employment (mostly federal) shed roughly 188,000 to 213,000 jobs, due to administration efforts to reduce the federal workforce.
As of late December 2025, the latest official unemployment rate from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is 4.6% for November 2025.

@OP
But—but the golden age is here. That whole ‘million jobs lost’ thing is just Dem propaganda. Daddy said that.

Lowering requirements? You obviously haven't read any current job posts in the industry. There are often many specific skillets demanded from one job post that require a careers worth of expertise!

It’s so unfriendly because of the H1Bs and illegals stealing jobs from Americans. It’s being disguised as “AI” but automation has been around for a long time, and we’re a long way from AI replacing human intelligence

It’s cyclical. It ebbs and flows. Once things change RTO ends to prevent the mass exodus of the remaining knowledge and talent
