Verbiage in Job Posts on Intranet

I have only reviewed a few postings so far, but now included is “Please note that per our policy on hybrid/virtual work, candidates not within commuting distance from the posting location(s) will NOT BE CONSIDERED for employment, unless an accommodation is granted AS REQUIRED BY LAW.”

Fully remote are stuck in their positions unless there is a policy change or they are RIF’ed.

@OP so stupid =- won't get past the screening to get selected for an interview to find out if you can apply for an accommodation which would be based on a medical condition - why would you tell a potential employer your medical status. Nice wording on the posting but it really says - "keep moving, we won't even talk to you" -

A fully remote person on my team got a promo, and it’s rare for anyone on my team to get a promo on my team. So it definitely can happen.

Yup. I am going through this problem right now and am unsure if I'm even eligible for promotion in the same job title. I live too far from a pulsepoint since a bunch of offices closed during the pandemic but was already fully remote for years prior to it. Just another reason for them to RIF without having to actually pay out severance
