I’m so glad I got out of that place. No self respecting professional would work for Cenovus downstream. Disgusting company. The grass isn’t greener but Cenovus has no grass, it is a manure pit.

@12z Some people I am talking to are saying its about 3.5-4 weeks per year?

Severance works out to be about 2 weeks per year, all in.

Once again welcome to our he-l: Cenovus, you might work here today but tomorrow’s another day.

The only thing you can count on here are more layoffs each year. It is guaranteed this won’t be the last. There’s a reason morale su-ks here and you can tie it directly to having an accountant in charge.

@vx what department or position were you?

My severance was about half what I was expecting. They definitely based it on base salary.

Are the pay packages just base salary or total rewards?

@j5 how many will be kept for longer transition and for how long?

All MEG corporate notified to come to work Monday as normal, but clear calendar on Tuesday and WFH to await transition advisor direction. Site employees currently off-shift will be contacted virtually Monday Dec 1/2, while those on-shift will know Dec 3/4.

I hope Cenovus learns from its husky experience and terms as many as they can, don't keep too many of the Meg staff.

I don’t work at CVE anymore (thank goodness), but love to check these funny papers on occasion to gawk at the roadside carnage. It’s human nature.

It’s insane to think any talent would still work there. Other shops are so much better in the way they treat staff. Respect and appreciation is available elsewhere. And please don’t insult cartels. They are still slightly better in comparison.

It's the only reason they ever want people to WFH anymore. The one thing they took away from Covid and those large Husky layoffs was how much easier it was to ditch their workforce when they aren't at work. Surprised they even go to that effort anymore and just send you an email the night before telling you to not bother coming in anymore

With a few exceptions it’ll be mostly MEG office staff. Don’t worry though, you’ll be treated “fairly”

Merry Christmas !

If you have ever wondered what it is like to work for a Mexican Dr-g Cartel, join Cenovus !

With average annual layoffs over the last ten years, your boss has absolute power over you. … then one day you get taken out..

~90 positions and yes it’s common to do layoffs at Cenovus this way for office staff.

Do you know approximately how many positions are expected to be eliminated? Is it common practice here to ask employees to work from home before informing them that their role is being eliminated?
