Thread regarding CDW layoffs

Arre CDW, enough already. The offshoring, the layoffs, the corporate juggling act while workers pay the price. And now this same company wants Olympic glory by association? Please. You don’t get to cut people loose and then wrap yourself in the spirit of teamwork.

Not OP... but nah. Lots of managers are useless. 1st hand I've seen tons pass over hard workers to spoon feed accounts to thier favorites at the detriment of customers and CDW. Many don't even help when you ask or by the time they do...you've already solved the issue. For directors on up...solid people get moved to positions with no impact while the inept stay or move up and are clueless about basic common sense business practice. Managers, directors, and VP's are driving out good people (which they're OK with since the need to continuously need to keep laying off people).
They missed the boat and were late on AI, can't get ahead of demand on hot inventory like GPU's and memory, but love patting themselves on the back. Watch how many will soak up the Olympics on the company dime.
Lots of solid coworkers are leaving voluntarily foregoing $ in thier routers, spiffs, or already booked orders in thier routers. Engineers that are needed for services are leaving for sanity and better gigs. They cant hide anymore behind successful quarters that they played almost no part in but yet they're all still around. C level sees all this and is actively complicit. Maybe it's the Boards prerogative but with stock dropping by 50+% ...it'd be nice if they were truthful about whatever plan they have because many coworkers are starting to believe there is none and seeing this place as just a paycheck to pay the bills and provide insurance.

@1dh Those severance packages are simply a way to get you to sign away your rights to free speech.

@hv I know exactly who you're talking about. I happened to be thinking about him today and wondering where he landed. He seems to have landed on his feet and is doing well. But man. Was he useless. Talked a big game until folks needed him and the few that did get on his calendar...it fell flat.

@1bz If you win the lucky layoff raffle, you'll get a severance package but I haven't seen them seek out volunteers yet, probably because too many of us would leave at once

@1bz ha ha that's the funniest one I've heard all week! No, management isn't really interested in how you feel about working here or else we'd all be in line for an exit package but why not - go ask for a package and see what the answer is

@kj Try having crowd functional project teams in which people are just absent and then you find out that they are gone, not because email bounces back (we route to their supervisors for a period of time), but because you can't find the. And then you get the Out of Office then Grayed out status on Microsoft Teams. We su-k.

@na Because that would require them to move beyond their own groupthink and discuss a plan that they don't have and are incapable of formulating/implementing with the current leadership "brain trust".

@kj because we have deliberate silence from ‘leadership’ that refuse to communicate how the business is doing and explain their plans to fix it. These mini layoffs aren’t a long term solution but a short term bandaid while the managers get their bonus and annual raises. Did you get your 2-3 % this year? Guess what Vp & Dir got $$$$

@kj Because in large organizations hr becomes something unreal. Imagine a therapist, remove all empathy, then make that role part of an entrenched Bureaucratic system and there you have why you come here.

How come I have to come here to learn why workers have disappeared?

When I was at CDW there was a managed services guru with the initials “MB” who was the most useless employee I ever came across at CDW. He used all the right buzzwords on a call with my customer, but when it came time to execute he did not understand a lick of what the customer needed. A truly horror experience.

It’s obvious how little the executives actually care for the employees.
Do they recognize how many mistakes they’ve made?
Do they realize their individual failures or secretly blame each other?

CDW was amazing years ago and pretty good just 8 to 10 years ago.
CDW brought in new executives who made terrible decisions and it just gets

Employees used to be celebrated and valued. We were determined and dedicated to the success of CDW. Now employees are just a number and disposable with little consideration for the impact it causes on the department.

The executives need to go. They su-k!

This is a survival aka Hunger Games move on the part of Leahy & Company. The Billion dollar buy back of stock held up shareholder value when we were just under +/- $175 per share. Now that it is trading at $123 that money was obviously wasted. With no real GTM plan, no sustainable competitive advantage, failed integrations of acquisitions, this is a Hail Mary to improve financials on paper just long enough for her and Al to attempt to cling to their life raft which gives them severance through 2029.
