Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

HR next department to leave?

I was discussing with a few colleagues the potential impact of moving to 100% offshore HR support, similar to the model offered by a Capstone-type company.

This would mean completely eliminating the in-house HR department, with every employee instead getting a mobile app on their phone to connect directly with dedicated HR support agents

@25v Yup. And the things they do don't have to be done well, they just have to be done well enough.

@1jr do you know why this company offshores work? Not for productivity but because those countries get paid nothing compared to similar employees in developed countries. It takes 4-6 to do the same amount of work yet it’s still cheaper.

Why do you reference offshore when PepsiCo is a worldwide company. If you do not like it you are free to leave.

They don’t do their jobs anyway. They let situations like G-yatri happen with no proper background checks, and the bullying in Hyderabad and US continues. What’s the point of having HR if no action is taken? In fact, when you raise concerns, they make you feel bad for speaking up.

The C-suite uses HR to avoid lawsuits and facilitate reorganizations. HR’s days may be numbered.

Hr is increasingly focused on the small %tile of non business critical issues. Turn and burn. Very few HR stay here more than a few resume building years.

I hate to say this, but our HR is useless. They couldn't care less about our employees. That type of attitude can be done from Mexico and/or India. Heck, just replace it with AI. At least AI will respond to my request.
