Thread regarding T. Rowe Price Group Inc. layoffs

London

They keep laying off people. They are also moving as many jobs as possible to EMEA + APAC but it's not going as fast as they would like as some roles are hard to move. I do not doubt for a second that they will continue with this and that, eventually, everything meaningful and with scale, will be moved out.

@20k A 'mo--n and a pig'? What a fascinating blend you have cooked up, born of a negligible IQ. With your presence here, alas nother village appears to be absent its id--t...

@1tp you’re a mo--n and a pig. The type of self entitled Awhole that makes this company worse for everyone. Ignore facts and begrudge others because you’ve got nothing else - well done you loser.

@1t3 So are you happy with the state of London? Britain in general? Do the sites and sounds and people on the streets invoke feelings of pride? That is great that your new "neighbors" arriving by boat daily are working on well. Great place to raise your daughters. That makes me happy.

@1rk that article is not just on FX. It’s about how UK workers are cheaper as well as there being tax incentives. Tech was an example because US workers were getting paid a lot more in that sector.

“Dismantling of the west” - grow up and stop your incoherent babble. The article was on US jobs going to UK and now it’s aaaah waaaah waaah jobs are going to places where the majority aren’t white. Get off the ketamine, get an education and stop being a racist.

@1rd Yeah, well the Wall Street Journal seems to think otherwise. https://www.wsj.com/finance/investing/britain-white-collar-jobs-7a59629d?gaa_at=eafs&gaa_n=AWEtsqfLYI865GkiXbqLt3OGTkEjteOxEKrtXIqvtxTKKrVKIRwGSEVKASOBCrnxOQ%3D%3D&gaa_ts=69128a2d&gaa_sig=_vrawN01r6bPtbxqiRAniX3A3sFOx4tYeXOIJFdQ8d3V7P6gLwt5ApUs30hk6bkTrkvZTxDR1eKSM_WLGWFKzw%3D%3D

@1dc exchange rates? Who cares what the FX rate is, changes all the time. You won’t hire permanent staff on the basis of exchange rates.

@1cv That would be a shame - sheesh they just set up that Warwick building over there. I figured you guys were safe, at least the tech folks. There was an article in some tech journal at how companies were farming work out to Brits due to exchange rate favoriabilities and it somehow being overall cheaper than US workers. I guess that didn't last. Americans and Brits take heart it is part of the overall dismantling of the west. It's not you. Vote appropriately.

With the lack of sustained long term results and revolving door of leaders, will the company just give up on the UK and cut it back to a bare bones office?

How much money needs to be sunk in to that dump. Is it a bottomless pit?

@gh It’s absolutely grim if not downright terrifying and mortifying. You are correct.

@jk That’s a feral comment. You should be absolutely ashamed of yourself.

@gh Nothing grim in the US now. Grim at this company, of course, but we are enjoying things for the most part in the US. So what happened today in Huntingdon today?

@d7 I’m personally a Dom fan. Got it stacked in a bar fridge underneath my table. Sounds grim in the US. Good thing travel budget has been cut. I wouldn’t want to go there.

@b9 they’re a joke. Did a client call with one “senior” RM. He was on zoom from his car while taking his son to cricket on a weekday.

@OP Feeling like a second class associate at the firm? Someone in another sub mentioned it - LON and SYD in particular appear to be given all the good stuff - new spacious offices with more desks than people, fancy coffee machines, snacks and beer n wine in Sydney as well apparently - not to mention the headcount
