Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

@1ad Looks like you copied and pasted the same comment on multiple threads. What happened? You gave notice and nobody gave a sh-t? Or maybe you didn't get a going away party? You mean nobody begged you to stay? The union got a bigger raise than you didn't they.
Get over yourself snowflake.
We're glad you're gone.
Don't come back.

@1ad Most people with your attitude towards unions doesn't know anything about them. The most skilled workers in America are unionized. And during COVID, it was the 3000 unionized workers, the essential workers that kept the company running while the rest of you hid in your bedrooms pretending to be sick.

Mass exodus by choice and some forced out. All locations are trimming fat so they can find a viable suitor for each non performing business unit. Glad I left before more cuts. Poorly ran from the top down, and frankly the union that exists in many locations is the downfall of any company with potential. Less than 7% of companies have unions and they all struggle, all layoff and eventually sell various business units to divest that waste and added expenses that union employees present to companies.

@qr - I would say that Thursday before payday not the Thursday before off Fridays would be the day for RIF, as it completes the two week pay cycle. I am afraid that there are many more RIFs to come.

J. Rambau is out. He resigned and took a job as CEO for a competitor. He wasn't going to have a role after CSD is broken up.
Sam M will run CSD while it is reorganized and streamlined.
Next round of RIFs will be Clifton on 3/19 and 3/26.
CSD manufacturing will be consolidated into Rochester and Palm Bay.
Some people will leave Clifton to go to Rochester and Palm Bay to transition the Viper Shield and IDECM work there.
Clifton will close by the end of 2026.

@ew you people ki-l me with this idea that your employer owes you something other than a paycheck for hours worked. Stop living in the past. Keep your resume up to date and expect everyday to be your last. Most important control your finances where you living check to check. A lot of nice car in the parking lot, that more than half cant afford.

If you haven't heard about your annual increase for 2026, you are probably on the RIF list.

@f1 unless they've updated severance, it's better to leave on your own initiative IMHO. Unless you're planning on retiring, last I've read it's been 1 week a year. The job hunt after a RIF can take 3-6 months.

100%. I know, for a fact, that a high performing CHQ employee was laid off on Monday. This person consistently worked 50-60 hour weeks for months and years. They were let go and told they had to sign their exit paperwork by midnight on the same day they were RIF’d. That’s a cold and careless way to treat a dedicated employee.

Regarding layoffs, for SMS, some small amount Friday. Sounds like mostly segment level people that didn’t get reabsorbed into a sector. There will be another sometime in April or May most likely once things have settled down and there is an idea of how much excess is left.

That said, you should consider any day may be the last day. They aren’t laying people off with any real forethought or looking at performance. I’m seeing people on PIPs get left while HR wants to axe high performers. There are better places to work that aren’t constant worry about being let go.

@a5 - you sound like an upstanding company man or maybe even HR itself , so, what you’re saying is that no matter how much mental stress the company is causing because of the instability of employment, you should still give them 100%. I’m sorry, that’s not the way human psychic works. People are going to be more concerned about securing a stable job at a better company than doing really well for the current company when they know that they could lose your job at any second.
I would use my phone in the my office and search other company’s employment listings, instead of worrying about giving the company that doesn’t really care about me, my all. People need to worry about themselves and their families stability before they get too overly involved with what the company wants and who doesn’t really care about you. Look at your badge you’re just a number.

I don’t think it will happen today, I bet they do another 3-5% RIF in April.

100% each and every day. You should always be prepared to lose your job. But you should also work hard each day, give it the best. No matter where you work, you were hired to do a job, and paid to do it. If you do not give it your all each day, you deserve to be laid off. Its like giving your kids allowance (do parents still do that?) and in return you expect them to clean the room, do the chores they have been asked. If they don't, do you still feel obligated to pay? Maybe thats the problem, people expect to be paid for not preforming.
