Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

Convergence is almost done. What next?

The convergence is coming to an end. Do you have any updates on what is expected to happen with the teams involved in the convergence? What about contractors? What about internal employees? And what about the International teams?

@136 I've heard that for some groups (unofficial) hybrid is back on the table. So yeah they must be feeling some kind of pain from losing talent.

@12g Only Phase 2 got the exemption but Phase 1 employees are still required to come in. But yes, you are correct in that they realized they couldn’t operate effectively with a mass exodus if they didn’t make that exception.

@12b they gave entire streaming org an exemption from RTO, likely because they lost a lot of good people soon after announcing RTO. i was one of them, and explicitly told HR that RTO + compensation was the reason i left.

@ys Backtrack? What do you mean. As far as I know, were still rto 5 days a week and they are tightening the sc--ws on some people who arent doing 5 days.

@wm ah yes trust the leadership that promised flexibility and then ordered everyone back to the office 5 days a week, only to backtrack because they realized they were cooked and losing people fast

@wm Laughable. The person who promised “one and done” just got fired for misconduct, and leadership is anything but trustworthy. That said, I do think layoffs will wait until the WB merger.

I think contractors are probably on the chopping block first, but it depends on their role. If leadership doesn't think it has enough staffing or the right staffing to get business critical stuff done, they will keep some contractors on the payroll. I'd imagine the overhead of keeping a contractor exceeds that of an standard employee (unless the work is being done offsite/internationally). Most contracting companies I know charge well above the salary of the contractor + benefits to the client, so that the contracting company makes profit. Paramount employees a ton of contractors. I know entire groups that are only managers and rely on contractors for most of the work.

@rn There have been rumors about layoffs for a while now. But leadership clearly said last year that layoffs would be one and done, and that already happened.

We do not want to be a company doing layoffs every quarter, so obviously we are not. Trust the leadership.

There doesn't seem to be any employees from Viacom or Cbs here, seems more like the new paramount employees

Almost done ? On paper, it is but in reality, not even close. Leaders are blowing smoke making them believe that we are making progress but the sad reality, is very slow progress. I would be mind blown if its completed by end of Q2
