Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Reality check

The reality is that T has far more FTEs than the other guys. I totally get the need from an operating expense perspective to reduce headcount but the reality is the work still needs to get done. Having said, that contractors will be where the work ends up so there are still jobs out there, probably working for a company with a less toxic environment.

I think the idea is to have all FTE's in Atlanta or Dallas, and the rest of the locations occupied by contractors since AT&T can't or won't mandate the FTW for them. All the FTE's on my team were required to move or leave, but all the contractors are still intact at the Willows and Bothell locations.

I definitely would stay. Flipping burgers isn't for me.

“100% of us would volunteer to go over today.”

You’ve been able to leave at any time. And yet you stay.

More farming out of network engineering and construction to contract firms is inevitable. Most can't wait. They will all treat their employees better than AT&T. 100% of us would volunteer to go over today.

@b8 Yep it’s all about the shareholders. F the customers. Pitty the employees who keep the revenue coming in. T has sunk to unrecoverable lows.

If T is so overly staffed as you say why did they bring in groups of folks under Legg with level 3 titles and not working at a Hub? What's up with that?

AT&T is way, way, way overstaffed. Has been for the past 20 years. Time to get serious and cut staffing deep. Your shareholders will thank you once the headcount is reduced to a reasonable level.

AI is here and it's ready for primetime. A lot of high-paying jobs will disappear in months. The landscape Is going to look entirely different by EOY.

The gravy train is over and the top performers don’t really want to work.

The issue isn’t how many FTEs we have. The issue is all the knowledgeable folks the company has/had are leaving in numbers or being driven out

Your comparing apples to oranges. We also have wireline and we make money off of wireline. Most of the other companies don't. Verizon will have a lot more employees when the Frontier purchase is finished. That will be a more even comparison then.
