Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Try being on the other side

You are all complaining about Wells India and the Engine taking all your work, but have you ever thought that maybe it's not really fun to take on so much work. We are paid pennies compared to you and are asked to do more and more. Have some respect when you complain on here that maybe your life isn't so bad

@z9 Agreed. You can bet if India didn’t have their policies to prevent layoffs many of you wouldn’t have jobs. US needs the same protections.

Is that braindead AI or that you just don't even have enough respect for your own country to even capitalize it's name?

no other country in the entire world lets the lowest bidder take jobs away from its citizens without repercussions

that’s what we resent

american prosperity is no longer american unless you are an executive. this is horrible. this is worth pointing out and mourning. this is not ok. this is not sustainable. this will not lead to a stronger america. american citizens should be the priority for corporations benefiting from american economic policy and this should not be a remotely controversial statement and certainly should not be called racism. this is common sense stuff and the global norm. even india has laws protecting indian jobs and taxes corporate projects from foreign entities happening on its soil

to imply that the us should not be doing this because of some random boomer idea about global corporation is very foolish and will doom the nation. letting companies do things that make money but ruin the economy for generations to come just so your stock goes up is nothing short of selfish. no other country allows this, none. not one. the idea of global competition meaning this is “just how it is” is completely fake news. enemy nation states don’t do any of this and instead build local talent and supply chains and fhas why we will lose on the global economic stage to china in the coming years. as a direct consequence of the decision to send everything to the cheapest global bidder forever to bump boomers stocks a quarter point. it’s not enough that they have turned houses into “investments”, they also need to throw away the future of the entire country for their investments. as long as it doesn’t all collapse before they die, they don’t care. just like social security.

@pa
bingo, it is exceptionally simple
why don't these capable folks start their own company
and keep all that profit for themselves

It's a global economy.

If a job can be done more cost effectively any corporation will take that path. Pretty simple economics honestly.

The frustration isn't always towards individuals in Engine - it's the fact that more and more US based jobs are being shifted to lower cost locations. Its not just India, its also BA and Manila. The career growth opportunities are becoming limiting and that is what is making people upset. CVX is a US based company but now has more non-US employees and is only expected to increase in that direction. Coupled this with AI and you can see why people are frustrated / angry / scared. Health care / retirement benefits are also factors since you don't have to deal with the US health care billing nightmare.

People were laid off from decent paying jobs in the US and you now have a decent paying job in India. STFU or quit if it’s too much for you to handle - those of us who have been doing it for decades knew you wouldn’t be able to handle it.

Trump calls India a “he11hole.” How do we all feel about that?

Hope you're using a personal device to access this site and post and not from within company electronic resources. Also hope you're not "on the clock".
