@nm Not to mention the three thousand leadership (see: methods and translation of outcomes to suit their jump to someplace else on their path to a C-Level), and soon its a buzz-word-laden, bast4rd1z3d version of the original concept anyways and since there were twelve layoffs in three years they put the Thing to sleep, come up with a new Thing reacting to some other Thing they stopped watching or improving to implement the original Thing.

@10j Talk is cheap. Changing mindset is impossible (almost). Relax. Jump ship when it’s time.

So there will be no development. Good for F5, then no of bugs will not increase
However observation is in F5 one bug is fixed (by some random engineer under the guidance of some random hackytect (known as Architect), 2 or more bugs gets in.
Great initiations.

@OP Removing bugs from software with Roundup is a tremendous operation, really world-class, believe me! Engineers are saying they’ve never seen cleaner and safer code.

The code becomes so clean, so beautiful, you almost don’t recognize it anymore. No crashes, no nonsense, just winning. The developers and managers? They love it.

Frankly, if we treated all software problems like this, we’d have the best programs, the strongest programs, maybe ever in the history of computing and the company!

@x4 I wasn't suggesting it isn't possible, only that F5 has historically not followed through in all of the projects I've been a part of. Leadership makes these statements but as soon as the growing pains of changing mindsets and culture come up, compromises are made that erode away at the goal until it is no longer there.

@nm. and this mindset of believing a no bugs will cost delivery time is what ki-ls excellence. It has been done - I've been on projects where it was accomplished - and the product came out early.

How many times has F5 done something like this? It always starts out strong with a lot of backing. Then a couple weeks go by and the reality that achieving this goal costs delivery time, so a few bugs are allowed to slip through. A few months later the initiative is there in name only. Within a year, it will be like it was never there.
