Murthy is just getting started, very likely he wanted to layoff 20k but BK coached him to do it in phases to continue pushing stock prices over time and relieve pressure on BK from board and stockholders.

We'd instantly be #2 in mobile and have a great baseline from which to grow. Why are we wasting billions for 1% share? Fire 12k people in the USA, buy MediaTek (7k employees in Taiwan), and we're good for at least a decade or more.
