Any there any good leaders left?
Back in the day there was Fister, Gelsinger, Burns, Mooly and even Dadi who seemed to be good leaders. All gone. Is there anybody left that garners respect? I can't think of any.
Intel self-driving cars??
Saw today's press on Intel and BMW... I wonder why Intel thinks it can outdo Apple and Google and Tesla and others in self driving cars? For us to win, we have to a) have a competitive product and b) have a better product and c) convince people that... — read more
Company being taken over by MR and his henchmen division by division
BK seems more and more isolated against the Murthy bulldozer trampling everything (and everyone) in its path. Days are counted for old clown shoes.
What made Kirk Skaugen and Pat Gelsinger so good?
I've been at Intel for some years now, but didn't pay attention to the politics when Kirk and Pat were still at Intel. I've seen comments about them being really good with the idea that Pat should've been CEO and Kirk grew DCG to where it is today... — read more

Two RSU granted in same day
Saw from colleague's UBS screenshot by accident, he masked it's detail, but could clearly found that he had two RSU granted in same day of Apr/26/2116. Any reason he got two RSU ? Because of "Outstanding" focal grade ? or what else award he got ?

AMD stock down over 17%, Intel up 1.5%.
Wow, just Wow!
Nowhere to go but up
AMD Is a buy. Wait till Naples server, Vega GPU, and Ryzen saturate market. Nowhere to go but up. Oh, and guess where all that market share comes from?
You can slip, but you can't change the date!
Appears to be mostly a continuation of 2016 layoffs, as mentioned above. Including some whole groups at once, 10-20 peoples, in various geos. But lots of ex-Intel'rs are still getting recruiter phone calls. Lots of contract positions opened up, even... — read more

Intel Acquisition Track Record
Lots of Cloudera threads this week, but a better topic is Intel's overall acquisition track record. Everything is here at this link: https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/intel/acquisitions Have fun!
Intel is in decline.
As most America. Corporations. It's very hard to change identities but intel has had the hardes than any company I know. There will be some mergers down the road in the not so distant future or the brand itself may not survive.
That said, Cloudera is now probably affordable if Intel wants to acquire...watch this space!

Everyone is here for the MONEY

Standard Performance for the Quarter - A Pump and Dump
I see the stock is back down to $36.04 today at the time of this post. Too bad. For one brief shining moment it broke above $37.00 and gasped for air. But, today the normal pattern shows up again and it deflates. Don't worry, it will crawl back up... — read more

How does OpEx reduce when headcount targets fall way short?
From the 1Q17 CFO discussion .pdf: The total number of employees at the end of the first quarter was 107K, up from the fourth quarter and down from approximately 112K in the first quarter 2016. So much for 12K.
