Too little, too late more layoffs

https://www.theregister.com/AMP/2022/08/05/intel_is_late_again/ Can Pat stop the rot – or is the chip giant facing a Kodak moment? No and yes past the tipping point. Intel is where Intel is a massive organization filled with brilliant... — read more

I don't mind the wait

It seems I'm in the minority here, but I don't mind the wait. I prefer having the time I need to prepare for the worst-case scenario and turn it into a better one. I admit, it's not easy not knowing when it's going to happen and always wondering, but... — read more

Rant on this “Hunger Games”!

I am a bit worried. I started at the same time as two more diverse employees on the team. I believe they are both G6/G7 and I am G7 (pretty certain on this). I believe close grades are being scored together. In a skills based review …..if... — read more

Hostile environment

Intel has created a hostile environment by extending this layoff suspense, it has caused undue mental stress and harassment for its employees. Wonder what California law has to say about this. It’s only a matter of time it gets sued for this by the... — read more

Uncertain times

I'm trying to be as calm as possible and get a new offer ASAP. I'm not too picky when it comes to a new offer, and it's hard a place worse than here. Lately, I've been putting in minimal effort because I think that the manager's favorites will... — read more

What group is actually being laid off?

Any info? What’s actually being reduced? Is manufacturing impacted (admittedly hires over the past few years have been questionable at best).

A Rant!

Although my first two years at Intel were great, things started to change after that. The management did not care about new employees anymore and they started to show their true colors. I joined Intel in 2014 as a business analyst. I was a happy new... — read more

Grade & Salary Info for Intel

Please share your grade level and salary, everyone benefits when we share info like this. It'd make sense to post other info as well, tenure/median time, degrees, etc.? My info: Grade = 7 Base = $125K

Offer in hand?

Get the job offer now and ask to start late January and by then you will know. You then take the VSP package from Intel and walk over to the new job. DONE. Why torturing yourself?

Deep Regret

I joined Intel a few months ago from a big defense contractor. I used to work for Intel back in 2010s and decided to come back for the salary bump. In my previous company I never worried about layoffs, not even crossed my mind. Re-joining Intel is... — read more

Layoff Announcements

I hope they start the layoff announcements next week, so folks can discuss with family during Thanksgiving and make plans. The delay is unnecessary and frankly very frustrating.

According to the DigiTimes report, Intel's laptop market share peaked in 2016 at 82.2% (in the same year, AMD had 17.8% of the market). But according to the latest figures from Q2 2022, Intel now owns just 63.5% of the market while AMD has... — read more

Stress Causes Inefficiencies

I'm not doing anything until I hear from HR letting me know if I'm being fired or not. Until then, I'll be surfing for new jobs. Not sending out any emails or responding to emails should save Intel lots of cash.

Voluntarily time off

So manufacturing is getting voluntarily unpaid leave for the first half of 2023… it feels like just delaying the agony

Facebook layoff 11,000. Severance package is larger.

16 weeks pay plus 2 weeks for each year of service plus PTO balance paid out NO CAP FB ramped hiring lately, overspent over $10B on Metaverse (no ROI),... firing about 13% of workforce now... see any similarities?
