Laid off employees returning to Intel

I've seen this happen a few times. What's the point of laying somebody off if you're going to allow them to return? Especially if they're given a severance? Why pay somebody to leave and then welcome them back to the company? What exactly am I... — read more

Layoffs elicit less and less reaction from people

I remember a time when me and my colleagues were much more worried at the first sign that there might be layoffs, even when the job market was much better. Have you noticed that people here have become more and more indifferent to cuts? This speaks... — read more

Will Pat go to h€ll for IDM2.0 and IFS 3.0

So will Pat be banished to he-l, will be tough for such a religious person to continue what is obvious IDM and IFS is a lying path to h€ll for Intel. But is it possible he will be forgiven as he truly delusional and will repent for his sins when... — read more

Did anyone start getting email or 1:1 in MSO/GSEM?

I heard a few spotty issues happening from yesterday, but did the BU systematically start the execution proceedings or it still did not start yet? It seems there will be a 200+ HC reduction in GSEM alone post VSP. So, it will be massive 25% HC... — read more

It's beyond me

Instead of getting rid of slackers who do nothing but spread a negative atmosphere, Intel decides to lay off some of the best employees....... Do you have any explanation why this company works against itself?

When do we expect layoffs in TD?

Roommate working at TD in Intel. I need to know if I continue my lease or break and find someone else who has a stable job. Don't want to be put in a situation where I would have to pay for his share as well incase he gets layed off and leaves the... — read more

Rewards

I get it that lot of folks are losing their jobs. But man, it sucks to not have raises in Q1. It seems that all the work last year was waste. Struggling to find motivation in new year.

What is actually happening…..

Only higher level paid folks or folks with greater than 20 years experience are taking the voluntary package. For involuntary leave…leaders do not have the guts to fire their pals. So where does this leave them…. having to let go 2-3 employees at... — read more

So much hate, so little leaving

If you truly hated Intel that much you'd be long gone by now. The fact that you're here on a page about layoffs means that you still care and that you are worried if you're going to be let go or not. Which is why I think all the posturing is... — read more

Estimate headcount in Q4 earnings

What will be the headcount in Q4 earnings. Please guess in your comments. For reference, headcount mentioned in Q3 earnings was 131.5k My guess is 125k. That's about 5% cut.

Intel is tied to a market in secular decline - the PC

They have (still) a dominant share there and so can’t grow. Furthermore, their existing share is threatened by AMD, Apple and soon Qualcomm. Server is another large market but growth has slowed to a more mature rate levered to GDP. Here, Intel has... — read more

It's a never-ending cycle

Intel overhires to make sure it has enough "fresh meat" when the time comes for the next round of layoffs. Then when layoffs hit, half of the newly hired people are laid off to artificially balance the average age of those who were let go, and the... — read more

Their idea is to save on severance costs

It's not much different at other companies either, but at Intel it's clearly noticeable - managers are quite adept at creating various types of pressure on employees in order to get as many of us to leave so the company can save on severance pay... — read more
