This is not the worst thing in the world

Intel cutting base pay seems like a disaster... on the other hand, imagine the staff getting a pay cut on the Titanic the day before hitting the iceberg... It really wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world... as compared to sinking to the bottom of the ocean. This is just another distraction for Intel on the way to the 'moonshot' IFS strategy spiraling down.

Pat should have cut VP and above pay by 50%.

Cutting base pay isn't the worse thing, but it's bad for moral and that leads to less productivity.

On top of that, I am seeing a lot of LinkedIn posts from people I know that have moved on for one reason or another. Not just regular people, but very highly skilled / gifted / talented / high performing people that any of Intel's competitors would be happy to open up their doors to.

The Titanic reference is accurate, and it's going to take nothing short of a miracle for Intel to recover it's former status as an industry leader.

But the Titanic eventually broke in two bobbed for a while and then sank surely after hitting the iceberg and many souls were lost.

Just as surely when Intel passed on Apple and gave up Foundry when they were ahead was their double iceberg and the sinking is all but assured
