Managers are told to pretend everything is “rainbows and ponies” and act like the store is making its numbers.

If it’s true 60 % of the corporate office was laid off then that is a precursor to bankruptcy/going out of business..... I’m speechless....

How long can they drag out these layoffs? How long do they plan to torture us with unnecessary anticipation and stressing? Why can't they just get it over with in one or two days instead of making it last for months now? I don't see a reason for... — read more

there is no statement to employees at the store level, no memo management read to employees, nothing, she is just as mute as you can get, all info about layoffs was found out through social media. She’s disgusting.

why is the number of people laid off "undisclosed", what are they hiding? are they afraid people are putting two and two together? very shady.

Don't believe a word Belk says. Corporate lied to our team for an entire year saying we were doing great and making our numbers. Then a year later they laid all of us off during our busiest time. It was a shock to everyone, management included.

Don’t believe ANYTHING you are told at Belk by a supervisor/manager/regional etc....I was let go today too, no real explanation, just a brief scripted answer too, very very brief. But I was ready to go, had enough of this place.

I know my time is coming. I'm one of the old timers just waiting on it to happen. So lets get on with it .

belk has no press releases from 2020 on their websight. It’s now almost July, and NOT ONE. Now, THAT is a red flag.

It's not family owned and operated. It hasn't been in about 5 or 6 years. Johnny Belk stayed on for 2 years and then he "retired".

So the remaining furloughs are going to be called back soon so the associates that are working now can start taking their pto is what i understand.

A manager tells me today that we can only have water bottle without a brand label or in a plain white cup, WTF? do they make the c-ap up?
