Employee Hour Cuts

How severe are the hour cuts in your store that Belk just imposed? At our store some have been cut to zero or almost no hours. Do you think this will really stop at the end of the month as promised?

Hundreds of hours? In what store do you work? In my store, “part time flex” had reduced hours. Unfortunately, when given choice in February, pre pandemic; Part Time, (available all and any hours of operation), or Part time flex, essentially “on call.” All full time employee’s hours were reduced by 20%, but we have “open flexibility,” meaning we are scheduled per business needs, regardless. We’ll stand by during typical “dog day’s of summer.” It’s typical retail!

We were reduced by hundreds of hours this week. Resulted in part timers being mostly razed to 0 hours to protect full time associates. We’ve been left with a skeleton crew which results in a panic anytime there’s a call out. Then you’re expected to fill additional hours as needed throughout the week, calling people and expecting them to be sitting and just waiting to come in. Ridiculous.
