Why Not Mediation?

If both sides have reasonable requests and demands, why not agree to mediation? Sure seems better than losing a bunch of money, health risk with no insurance and disconnecting customers that ultimately pay the bills. Not wanting a mediator would... — read more

DO NOT TAKE THE BAIT & The duty to bargain

All too often, management likes to stir the pot in contract negotiations by putting their so-called “final offer” on the table. With this type of proposal, the Management team is implying that the bargaining process is at an end. They may even add... — read more

The "Last, best and final" offer.

That only implies there were prior best and finals. So why would anyone think it's really the last? Poor choice of words by a PR approved statement.

This Union is pathetic

The failure of the Union heads to resolve this matter is going to cause a lot if hardships on its members, most of which did not really want to walk anyway. How is that income going to ever be made up? The answer is that it won't, just like the... — read more

Union Is A Business Too

It's really quite simple math. The Union is dependent on the dues it collects. If the workers are not working then the dues are not being collected, and if there is a lock out, that is bad for the Union...in the long run.

CWA burned me. They will burn you too

I'm no longer in the industry but was a card carrying proud member of the CWA. I paid my monthly dues. I went on strike. I wore red. I lost my job. The union masters at the top traded 30 call center jobs in "negotiations" to save 5 IR jobs. I took it... — read more
