How do we reverse toxic?

I have worked for a few different companies and been here for quite a few flavors of Honeywell. I feel we are at a bad place where young and old engineers think of this company as a bad place to be long term. I have my thoughts on why and how it could be made better. I'm sure others have some different and great ideas as well.

  1. The company needs to recognize that although wall street does want a CEO that can lie and sell bs, lets recognize that those are not the skills needed to run a company. The CEO is for show, but don't let them have power.

  2. We need to break the cycle of following top down mandates that are not good for our short or long term business. If every engineer and manager from the bottom up is forced to be a puppet so they can get ranked higher, that is toxic.

  3. We need a sustainable plan for a globalized work force. Yes, it is cheaper to use 3rd world labor, but at some point we are not a US company that customers want.

  4. In order to retain engineering talent and promote teamwork, lets utilize our engineering managers and give them the power to retain who they want. Throw out the forced 9 block bs. Throw out the current promotion system. Take a look at some companies that have success in this area and start over. Profit sharing for all team members seems like a good idea.

Honeywell is a TOXIC ENVIRONMENT, breeding TOXIC C---ROACHES that infest and infect others with a toxic disease. They promote those who exhibit behaviors and traits of a toxic c---roach.

If you stay here, you are affecting your mental, emotional, intellectual and professional health by continuing to stay here and expect a change. It is too far into the toxic cycle to reverse at this time. The entire management has to be cut out like a cancerous tumor otherwise it will not change. So, it is best to leave this company and find a professional home where you can thrive and grow professionally.

That way, you can come home and help your family, children and grandchildren grow as well in a safe, clean and healthy environment. Don't let fear paralyze your conscience and decision.

Move and change your position from this company. It will be the best decision that you have ever made.

Actually I don't know what MS's role is nowadays since I've been out of there for a few years. But my guess is, he's still dropping them. I got a few directly dropped on me and so did one of my projects.

I am not going to name the name which violates this website's policy but many know who I am referring to. TM's sadistic destroyer.

What is ALT? And who is MS?

Give it up OP. Management like the ALT feed off of employees misery. I could see where someone like MS surfing these posts on a Friday night after a few drinks to get some jollies reading posts like this, laughing in diabolical laughter about miserable employees venting on their mis-treatment.

When corporate America decided that the GE model was the gospel, all of us suffer, the sadists and bean counters rule with employee misery. Soul-jacker-SOBs.

Laugh at that, MS and your allies. But you'll rot in hail eventually.

Honeywell has become a dysfunctional family. Nothing you can do about it. Time to run away from home. You couldn't do that as a kid but you can do that now as an adult. I did, a few years ago. Good luck.

The OP, no offense, is late to the party. I'm guessing you must work at a site that was a later target of the oppression, likely in Aero somewhere in Phoenix.

Other sites like the one I was at have experienced this phenomenon for many years, while those in Phoenix cheered it on with the ALT being the exterminators, being led to believe they were going to be spared at the expense of others. But...now not.

This company was already rotten to the core before Cote, and worse after. It was just that some sites still had some of their own home-grown leadership independence. But those who looked out for their locals are either beaten down, assimilated, or have left.

The best solution for anyone still working there, is leave while the economy is still "good". Leave the worst rotten apples to rot to the end. Turned into apple cider by the ALT.

The OP made a sweet well-thought-out post, but you've ( I first wrote we've--habits are hard to break) long since left an environment where such suggestions could be carried out. I wish him good luck and Godspeed, but it ain't going to happen at Honeywell.

It’s simple. Honeywell has become a toxic place to work because the new CEO is a greedy liar and not smart enough to see his tough guy policies are backfiring on him. The best answer for all HI employees is to get another job.

I feel bad for you, OP. You are way too vested in this company that is just going to screw you. Please understand you can’t change Honeywell, you don’t have any power to change/set policies. But you do have control over yourself and owe it to yourself to do what is right and best for you. Spend your time and energy looking for a better job - there are tons of them out there - and get out of this hellhole.

The Future is out there and it is not Honeywell!!!!

You are under some delusion that companies exist for the employees. Not a social club.

I see a LOT of Honeywell in my role. Much more than most. The story is simple. Bad products or contracting market equals unhappy employees. New products and growing market equals happy employees.

To fix toxic all you have to do is sell more widgets. If you can’t sell more widgets then somebody needs the globes to pack it up and shut the place down. The agony is a long slow death where no money comes in and the business just fades.
