Thread regarding Denbury Resources Inc. layoffs

Who else has doubts?

After the promotion announcement and more I really doubt the cost savings lines. We laid off only to promote and I'm sure give raises to new VIce Pres? I'm sure the majority of us will go on to year 3 with no raise and less bonus and benefits.

I was actually buying into this.

Keep cutting the base. We'll see how long before the pyramid crumbles.

Do we really have this many clueless employees or do we have a few that just keep posting the same old thing? You are operating from a position of fear so everything you see or say is from that perspective. It's important the company retain it's key executives (ie, not you) and to do that they need to do things to keep them (ie, authority, titles, compensation, etc). Guarantee you the company ain't gonna survive without a competent executive staff that stays navigating these tough times. Time to start worrying is when the top guys start leaving. From my perspective, we have the people we need up top. Too bad many chicken littles below.

I don't trust Him. I did and gave him chances but only announcing the few promotions and essentially hiding the others?!

Move was meant to ensure SVPs get a nice paycheck when the comany merges/dissolves. You let go people with one hand, promote with the other. Unbelievable! Definition of corruption!

This use to be a forum where information good/bad/sorting out of rumors could be discussed. Now it's just a place where people w jobs come to whine that others have more than them or all the good people were let go, and have nothing productive or informative to say. No ideas other than "Gee, wish I could get a job elsewhere". What you get, you will give. Hasta la vista.

You don't think they LITERALLY rearranged the deck chairs on the titanic, do you??

It is obvious that a selected few are being promoted to ensure they are taken careof when it finally happens . You really thought Kendall cares about you? Only thing he cares about is his pocket.

The 2018 Layoff will get everyone that is not Director, VP or SVP. At some point, the management team might wake up to the fact that all of the actual workers have been let go and they won't have a clue as to how to file a permit with the state or even turn on the lights.

Remember how well it worked out rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic! Same will happen here,

Is the top management even realizing who is doing the actual work? Sure add more VP's, pay them more. Treat rest of the working people like dogs.

Haha. Obviously spoken by someone that received a raise/promo. Yay--stock went from $1.20 to $1.30. Who needs a raise--I'm rolling in the money--or at least have a less negative earnings by a few pennies. Anyway, you're actively choosing to read the public forum...do you expect to find a happy celebration on a forum called "thelayoff.com" in an environment where only a select few are recognized when we are all trying our best to make the company successful?

Why don't you guys go out for a drink and talk about this stuff like normal people instead of BS'ing on a public forum? Only focus on the negative and assume a lot as usual. No mention of rising stock prices, huh? Figures. Don't bet another company gonna swoop in and hire you with your attitude but wish they would for everyone's benefit. You are part of the problem.

The culture is DEAD! They have even removed the articles from the walls on being a good place to work! I guess they want us to forget the times we enjoyed working there.

After the layoff and the town hall, I was dedicated and bought in on being part of a comeback. Before the VP announcement I saw a email signature with an elevated title (not someone on the announcement) and was surprised. Now I've heard of several.

We have VPs with departments of 4 people. Is that cost effective? I agree with another poster, a kick in the gut!

It's not just VPs that got promotions, that's just all that's announced. There were other promotions that they seem to think we aren't bright enough to notice. When we are all working more than ever with no raise in years, how do they expect us to feel when a select few are getting more money and benefits?

Look at the organizational charts, new managers, directors and even some SVPs!

What were the other promotions??

This was a tone-deaf move at best after laying off a ton of people and cutting everyone else's compensation. Those of us left are buried in added responsibilities and working our rears off while wondering if and how badly our pay and benefits will be cut further.
