Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

MAJOR!!! Layoffs Coming in October (or sooner)!

Rampant rumors across the organization, especially within the sales team are saying that MAJOR layoffs are coming very soon, probably early October (if not sooner). The Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Architecture teams were crucified at a recent quarterly meeting foreshadowing the next purge of these "non-performers" who the CEO feels is the reason the company is not making any money.

Prediction for the next round is up to 25% of sales will be gone with the remaining sales team left burdened with the current load and stress of picking up the slack, setting up those remaining for failure. Up to half (yes 50%) of the on-shore Solutions Engineers and Architecture teams will be cut. The jobs will be sent to Costa Rica and India to individuals thousands of miles away from their customers who haven't the slightest clue on how to service a customer, have major language barriers, and most importantly are not trusted by US customers. Solutions Engineers and Architects have been bringing off-shore resources "up to speed" for months in preparation.

Executive Leadership continues to bury their head and turning a blind eye to the lack of any competitive services (over-priced co-location and network), rapidly dying traditional recovery services, a lack of any meaningful Cloud offering (re-selling AWS on an unstable environment and lousy support services from India and Costa Rica) and consulting services run by a team of rejects. They fail to realize customers can see right though the BS and feel services provide by cheap off-shore resources are killing the company. Off-shoring 70% of your company "to remain competitive" is not the way to grow your business, it's a means to inflate cash on hand to prop up a dying business model and company. The company has now started to release senior "high-performing" team members to the bewilderment of long-time SgAS customers. Now starting to cut the only talented people who remained loyal prove no one's job is safe in this company. Employees have a legitimate right to fear the delivery of their next paycheck. The company has killed off any desire to sell, deliver, or make any extra effort to keep the CEO's fantasy alive. Stay tuned...January 2018 is setting up be an absolute blood-bath of cuts.

The rot set in several years ago. In the UK, EDS purchased SD, then took on a number of large contracts and proceeded to lose them. The issue EDS had, was that the senior management, Board members were focused on building up sales to sell the company. No focus on quality or producing I T solutions that helped the client business, just getting contracts signed. Of course, EDS then proceeded to suffer from legal claims and lost many big contracts. Then the middle management, the ones who managed the programs and projects began leaving along with some very talented staff. This lowered labor costs and the EDS Board were able to flog the company to HP and walk away with billions. Since then, it seems they have merged with companies with the same business model, no focus on quality I T, just sign contracts, hire and fire, etc. It had c-ap company seeds planted, and has grown into a c-ap company tree. Why anyone would buy services from these bsers is a mystery.

TR or Refinitive or what ever the name has always fired people every 2-3 years in average .. a very short sighted top management who are there to cash in and leave the boat when it’s taking in water .. I read a lot of negative comments about TR but honestly do other corporate companies do it better or have perhaps better ethics or morals ? Answer is NO they Fu@@@g don’t!

Every single one of them and their top management and middle management by the way are a bunch of hypocrites

Every employee is just a number and is forgotten the moment he/she leaves.

The Sad thing is that you end up working for these entities for a large part of one’s life and get very little in return

They may change name but it’s content remains the same

The policy of outsourcing most of their business to countries were rubber dog sh@t is produced is the way to go let them believe in this and get on with your own life’s.

If you are impacted it’s a opportunity to do your own thing whatever that is and will be by far more rewarding then following these fake hypocrites who are not even capable of organizing a piss up in a brewery.

I'm in sales. Customers tell me (actually they yell at me) that support is so horrible. I know I'm targeted, I just can't sell a dead product. Do we even have serious development? Do developers even exist at Sungard AS? Customers ask about APIs and I got nothing to point them to. The AWS cloud offering is a joke. I got nothing stable to show customers.

Customer support is imploding. Good support staff have been laid off and replaced by low quality workers in far away places. Yes, there's nothing like great customer service when the support reps answering the calls are incapable of helping customers with the most basic things because of language problems and lack of competence. Bravo! It must be a beautiful sight for the less-than-brilliant executives to watch the customer base dwindle. To them I say, enjoy your self-destruction.

Product development is a mess, especially the so-called unified portal. Dissatisfied customers. Good luck with that one.
