Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Staying at HON is bad for your career

If you're like me and you have 15 years or less at honeyhell, it's for us to leave. There is no future in AERO especially. The ALT is running this company straight into the ground for their own benefit. Wageswill continue to remain stagnant, HR will continue to deband roles out of band 4, they will consider almost every role you want to take as a lateral, all while senior leadershit rakes in millions at your expense. Make no mistake, the company WANTS people like us to leave, if they didn't they wouldn't treat us this way. It's time we take their advice and seek better opportunities. The time to look is NOW, while it's still conventient. Don't wait to get RIFd before you start your job search. There are better opportunities out there! We don't need to tolerate this sh-- any longer. Don't worry about who will do your work when you leave, they will gladly just assign it all to your coworkers in their effort to do more with less (or in HONs case, try to do more with not enough).

You can decide to stay and stick it out, but in my opinion, that is crazy. For those of you who think we are just in a gulley and we will pull through on the other side, you're wrong. It will NEVER get better. Let me repeat that, the situation at HON is NEVER going to improve. This is the new normal. Completely unrealistic deadlines, impossible metric targets, people not being replaced when they leave, etc. This is not a hump we are trying to get over then things will get better. The future at HON is RIFs, furloughs, outsourcing, budget constraints, and no career growth. Like I said, under 15 years in service, it's time for us to all find better opportunities with real career potential.

I left five years ago. I just come here for the entertainment value. I've never seen a company as self-destructive as Honeywell.

I stopped covering for the order management CSRs! They can now fully stand alone and be accountable. I know it will fail, because Honeywell s---s and the management are all braindead.

The problem that you have if you are young and in the US workforce. Honeywell decided about a decade ago to go with a low cost, overseas, 2nd world workforce and squeeze the US workforce into forced nothingness. You and I know that the overseas mistakes all roll back into the US where we spend money to fix them with no product to offset it against - thus we are perceived as the ultimate in mis-run, ill-gotten cost centers. You and I know that the high tech, innovative ideas originate in the US but HON management believes there is much more margin and revenue to be had by selling half-baked software from overseas instead.

That company business model won't change until the market forces it to change. So you need to go and let Honeywell find out what it means to be 100% reliant on the ill-educated, non-dedicated, uninspired workforces of places like Bangalore and Mexicali. At that time, they may turn things around and start offering living wages and benefits to a core US workforce again. But in the meantime, if you are young your future should be pursued elsewhere.

Great point! I was there for 12yrs, never had a promotion and even volunteered for the last RIF (but wasn't picked). I left on my terms and even though I felt bad for dumping my work on others, I knew that HON didn't care. Bottom line to all of you still at HON - get out while you can and before the job market is saturated with the rest of HON escapees. In AZ there are many options: Gore, GD, Orbital, ViaSat, PacSci, Taser, Raytheon, etc. Go and be free!

There isn't zero wage growth for those at the top, they're still raking it all in. You know, the guys who drive everyone to work really hard, push every order, get every dollar, revenue, revenue, revenue. These guys live in super expensive houses, have millions in stock options and will be able to live comfortably for the rest of their lives. They do very little but get paid a LOT. Keep that in mind when these elitists send daily or weekly emails demanding we all work as hard as we can to "make the quarter". You know what I say when I get those emails? FCK YOU! Delete!

Honeywell is changing it's products. Listen to the leaders and they have said it clearly....we are a software company now. If you are a software engineer then move to Atlanta immediately. If you are in a hardware discipline or in manufacturing leave the company. I don't understand the whining ... except to think it is a symptom of people too old and stuck in their ways to change.

The entire country has zero wage growth. If you want higher wages move to china... they pay for talent. You have to learn a new language but..isn't that what the EM folks were forced to do?

The reason why they aren't replacing people leaving is because they ARE replacing them... In India.

All of these new managers are hired to begin working on offshoring your jobs. It isn't just manufacturing that is leaving anymore. R&D, engineering, software development, test- all leaving. This is not just speculation, managers are admitting it now.

A couple years ago, the managers were told to look for new jobs. These were people who new parts and process - no necessary skill anymore. Brought in new - inexperienced managers. The new managers did not talk to employees, just numbers. Get a task, get an order and execute, no discussion. Had one manager who rarely left his office and spent half the day with door closed. Asking a question, like can you clarify or I want to make sure I understand was not a good move. You just put the boss on the spot. Most frustrating, during the tier meeting or really any meeting about an issue, I or someone else might know the answer and would start to explain "so here's what's happening.." or "what we need to do is..." and the hand would go up "Alright lets stay on task, lets go guys, keep it moving." You're answering the question the boss asked get about 10 words out and are stopped. Obvious the boss did not what to know the issue, did not what to be involved, did not want any responsibility or have anything to do. No knowledge is good knowledge. Knowing answers got you no where, It was very random as I knew other people who still had good bosses and really liked their jobs. That was my last few years at Hon. Got laid off, got package, got new job, making more $$, things are ok. Still not sure why so many who volunteered for lay off were denied.

Could not have described the company and atmosphere better. I'm a long timer just itching to get out soon. Things used to be so good, the company used to appreciate us and the benefits showed. No longer though. I tell the same thing to others I work with, get out and look for a company that actually appreciates you and offers you benefits for the long run.

Yes, I finally had enough and got out, perhaps a few years sooner than I otherwise would have wanted to. I was tired of being treated like a child and insulted with lies. I was tired of being asked to give more and take much less. Most of all, I was sickened by the realization that my efforts were only enriching and enabling the world class a$$#oles that were driving a once beloved company into the ground. I can't describe what a wonderful relief it is to be out from under all of that.

@kjk, I'm with you. I DGAF at all and literally come in here and just wait for my job offers. As soon as one comes through, I am out of here. I couldn't care less about HON or any so called growth. Once the rest of the employees realize what's happening, they will leave too.

I know of at least 3 engineers in Clearwater who put in their 2 week noticed withing the last week. I"m too old to start a new career elsewhere so I'm just waiting for my package. I am sure I'm next in line.

I had a job interview last week, very promising. I DGAF anymore, I had it with this company. We lost 3 people in our small group and now they expect me to pick up the slack. Yeah - I am smiling waiting for a phone call with an offer just to so I can put in my two week notice. We all want to leave, it is obvious this place is a lawn in the desert with not a single rain drop in the horizon.

Make sure you fill out your career profile on HR direct. Anyone wonder why they keep pushing that?

I have been begging for training over the last year. Training that is critical for growth and to provide additional capabilities - my manager told me to watch YouTube videos after-hours at home, but not charge training since it affects our yield. He also wanted me do it on top of my mandatory 44 hours of work per week. I asked HR for this policy and HR told me there was no EEI or Yield policy in place and refereed me back to my manager. It seems Honeywell has underground policies in place (unwritten) to not get in trouble. They will not write any of this down since they know it is 1. unethical and 2. possibly illegal. HR is complicit and they need to be reported to the government sighting fraud waste and abuse of government contracts.
