I was worried about the new CEO, but optimistic. Now I know why the board was aggressively looking outside of Target. They knew going into this that many of us would lose our jobs. They could not hire within as our executive committee could not do this type to its own company. I understand business and how we need to undo the mess Gregg made of the company, from hiring all of his buddies and creating departments that made absolutely no sense and giving everyone titles who did not deserve it. We did not stand a chance with him at the helm. Let's face it, there will probably never be a Bob at the helm again.
Yes, the company is top management heavy. Yes, the company could use some restructuring in some departments. I DO NOT believe we need to be this drastic and insensitive to the employees who have been loyal for years.
By Brian starting with telling Wall Street and not the people whom it will impact, I have lost respect for him. How does this build moral and develop a stronger team? How does this help the community, of people who shop at Target? This is such a distraction while trying to do my daily work for the company! I love Target, I will always love Target. I have big concerns about how this was handled and how I will think of the board of directors and the CEO after this. I trusted you to treat me with the respect I treat you. It will take a while for me to get over this.
I know I will NOT be voting for any of the current members of the board of directors in the future.
I know Brian will move on in a few years and we will just be a blurb on his resume on how much money he saved the businesses, but what was the true cost of this decision?
