My group announced return to office 5 days a week starting Jan 2025. Yikes.

Thank God I'm retired, I worked from home exclusively for 15+ years. There's no way I could go back into the office.

Contractors and international workers are exempt. Seems only US domestic workers need to 'collaborate' at a hub office. . . . They're the only workers that get surplussed as well.

My question is , Does this include the contractors? We have contractors in our group and for some reason they were exempt from the 3 day RTO.

It’s for all with a designation of “N” in Webphone. Official communication hasn’t come out yet, it will be for Legg definitely starting 1/1/25.

I'm a level 2 in Dallas and in a meeting with our VP it was said that the change to 5 days a week in the office was because "John Stankey has data that not all employees work 40 hours a week". First, what data would show that? Secondly, if you have data why not correct the offenders? The beatings will continue until moral improves.

I was told that L5 and above are to be in office 5 days/8 hours effective immediately (I.e., this week), and rest of us same requirement no later than 1/1/25. Part of what came out of the L5+ summit last week. But, also some talk that there may be accepted some plans alternative to 5/8.

They are trying to slowly find your breaking point. That point where you’ll retire. If they do not get enough voluntary retirements then we go to 5 days. There will always be that next takeaway, giveback or excessive oversite till they make you uncomfortable and unhappy enough to retire without severance. As long as you understand this and know what’s coming you’ll do fine.

Got the word verbally yesterday from AD passing it down from D. L5 and above immediately, L3-4 in Dec and 1-2 once the office space situation is sorted.

L5’s lie constantly.

Legg especially lies. At his recent townhall he showed this chart with job roles on the horizontal and locations as the verticals with colored squares where the job function would be done. Then lyingly said "this doesn't mean we won't hire someone in those colored in locations"

Tell that to all the people being told to move to one of those squares or lose their job.

At a previous one he said that getting people to hubs would be done by attrition and a few months later he started announcing what people would be forced to move.

T has done everything it can do mimic and copy Verizon’s organization and processes. VZ currently requires most employees to report 3 days per week..while engineering etc only comes in twice a week. I’m betting all the talk about 5 days is nothing but gaslighting on this forum

Oh the folks in disbelief. Give it time, you’re next. Your disbelief is laughable if you think this isn’t really happening.
Leggs org, security, mass markets, Townes… you’re next. Why do you think it’s not coming for you? What org do you think is getting a pass? Honestly, tell us why you think you’re excluded from this corp wide mandate?

I’m telling you, this is all from the Legg down.
This hasn’t been announced or even discussed anywhere else.

Kenny org checking in - we were just informed that 5 days is coming but nothing in writing and no official start date yet. Assuming the Stank made the decision and his direct reports are communicating. Legg’s org getting a head start seems typical based on the comments here but it’s not going to be any better for other groups.

It'll be nice downloading pr0n on the company att-wifi network instead of using up my metered home connection.

I was just surplused in a hub, I'd gladly do 5 days a week for a paycheck.

This may be isolated. As of close of business yesterday our L5 had not heard of any discussion about 5 days in-office.

If I were just starting out and considering employment at a company that was 5 days in office and a company that offered at least partial WFH, it would be a no brainer. I think T will have trouble attracting new [US] talent with a 5 day mandate.

Why do company leaders want to make their employee lives so miserable.

They're hoping some will quit.
They're also complying with tax break requirements.

Win-Win for the company. Not so much for employees.

RTO is old news now. We have known it was coming since early 2023.

Nice try, JTS stooge. Doesn't matter which VP it is, remember this post when the RTO directive hits.

Whole thing is such BS and seeing the kiss-as--s on today’s Stankeypalooza and Viva Engage was kind of nauseating.

Yep. We were told it came from that executive leadership summit.

My VP went to that, was asked point blank about 5 day RTO yesterday and didn’t say anything. This guy is usually honest so I don’t know why he didn’t come clean. Whole thing is such BS and seeing the kiss-as--s on today’s Stankeypalooza and Viva Engage was kind of nauseating.

That by the way was quite the snorefest. Someone must have had a cattle prod ready to shock him if he went off script like he usually does.

So if you hop on after work to get things done after 5 you get flagged for not working?
Got it.
Guess I’ll fu-k around, won’t get on in the morning, come in whenever to just get my 5-6 then never ever work after hours.
Got it.

Oh, so if I coffee badge and leave, I can just leave my pc there and just not work at all?
Ok, got it.

Request a second work station, something cheap, make up some justification, if you have a cool manager, they may even assist.
Leave it at the office somewhere.

“How the coffee badgers will figure this one out?”

Get a Mac, the silly tracking can’t ping Mac’s.
I’ll believe something different when I see it, but it never works right when I’m in the office and I review the data.

Still gonna coffee badge, still don’t give a fu-k, will see if they ever say anything.

"VP said she's submitting plans for our group to be 5 days RTO "

your VP must really hate her org. She clearly wants many of you to quit and does not value or care about your accomplishments, skills you bring to the table and whatever savings and ideas you bring to her org

Yep. We were told it came from that executive leadership summit. No shock that they had nothing else to discuss. The real kicker is there is not enough parking for everyone in Alpharetta. Midday the parking lot is pretty much sharks trying to find a spot. Let the hunger games begin to find a desk.
