The second wave of the RIF for anthem has started! 20% of the labor force to be cut by the first week of March! All meetings will start this month. People leaders will have the choice of selecting who is to go. The last time it was by seniority to avoid lawsuits. This time the people leaders will select the employees. At the same time the restructuring of teams and titles will commence. Some will get severance packages others will not. Others will receive offers for other roles. In addition two more RIF's are scheduled for 2024. These last two will be market specific. It has nothing to do with performance and all to do with margins. It has been determined that the company productivity and performance increases after each RIF. Anthem has mastered managing by fear! Happy 2024 and praying that you are not affected and those that are get at least a package. Will continue to update!

@3mwm+1quqlVHp No because to get the severance you have to agree not to discuss publicly.
Bill B marketing town hall just ended. Added to calendars late last night. Said that layoffs have happened and hinted at a reorg without giving any concrete details or explaining what that actually means…
David Lawrence’s organization had numerous layoffs (under Maureen). They called an impromptu town hall to address it. Do you need to names of associates before you believe it?
Isn't it strange how no one is saying what department they are in that got laid off?
In response to @2yey+1quqlVHp, those just laid off will get 100% of their bonus. For those whose last day was back on 10/20 or so, they will get 100% of 9/12's of their bonus. For me, my last day was in November so I got 100% of 10/12's of my bonus.
There is no point in guessing if you are more likely to be let go if you are remote, hybrid, vaccinated, or over 55.
Those things do not factor into the decisions. I know people are grasping for some pattern recognition to feel safer, but it isn't there.
In most cases, these decisions rest with your direct manager or you VP.
Can someone say what departments have been impacted so far this go round?
I was one of the ones today Last day 2/9. 27 years gone. But everything happens for a reason and something better will come along.
When I left Anthem, it was a huge relief. Plenty of other healthcare companies that will treat you better.
bigger is not better
How can we be on mandatory overtime, and then fire people and make the rest work even more.
Please don't believe half of the bullsh-t out here. People leaders always have a say in RIFs. AIP does get paid out in full. RIFs happen. In EVERY business. Severence is on par with industry. Sorry for those impacted. Not sure what is expected in Corporate America. If you are looking for loyalty, go work in the family business...sure as he'll ain't gonna find it here.
Workforce is doing time studies in various departments so AI is coming soon just as I’ve read in many posts. I’m just riding it out. I’m not stressing because there’s nothing I can do about any of it. It’s just very sad.
People leaders will have a choice unless THEY are impacted in which case it's a cr-p shoot.
Can confirm 23 people RIF’d across my area in service ops today. Relieved I was not one but gutted for my co-workers. Combination of W@H, hybrid model workers. Vaxxed and non vaxxed. Anywhere from consultants to entry level(1’s) and mid level associates(2’s). 5 directly from my team alone. Also losing my director to another area due to re-org.
Interested to see what else shakes out from this.
I’m a Carelon asso in EDA workstream and I haven’t heard of anyone rifd today.
I will say this, my manager just got let go today.
Not sure about the post stating people will receive 100% of their bonus. Leadership can choose any percentage they want. I know someone who only received a fraction of what others received and they were a meets expectations on their evaluation before being laid off.
Irrespective of severance eligibility you are eligible for your AIP since you worked last year AND you didn’t voluntarily resign before the payout or receive a did not meet expectations on your evaluation.
Your manager has no input into how much bonus you get. Those RIF'd today should receive 100% of their bonus in March.
@2jbr+1quqlVHp my entire team is technically remote with very limited requirement for in-office, those who were laid off are within the 50-mile radius and did their required office time.
@2inf+1quqlVHp Re: bonuses -- if your severance is still in effect at the time of bonuses you still be bonus eligible. That said your manager may pay out at the lower end of the range so as to save as much bonus pool as possible for their remaining demoralized team members -- who will now be spending their days either way stressed out due to the toxic environment this place has become, and/or looking for new positions elsewhere
So how exactly do bonuses work if you got a RIF in this cycle? Do they payout?
Just curious....are those of you reporting that you're part of the RIF remote employees?
I was part of Oct RIF...advice is to use the Right Mgt services offered to you and do not spin your wheels thinking that someone in Elevance will "save" you before your 30 days is up...I did that and totally regret it as that was time wasted on Elevance vs working on my next career path. Chins up everyone!
Note these layoffs are happening before bonuses . . . those of you who get even 50%, cheers.
Today is an Elevance / Anthem bloodbath! You’re not alone and it’s not your fault. Good luck everyone! Might be worthwhile to report it to the press so they can own it!
@2zea+1quqlVHp I think every department in Carelon is affected.
I was let go today as well. Over 15 years of service. This company is heartless and Gail is slowly driving it in the ground. I was upset but looking forward to new opportunities. To everyone that was let go move forward and don't look back. Wants to worry about every quarter of the year if they will be laid off or not.Good luck everyone.
MCAG got hit this time.
Severance is 4 weeks base (E/M13 and lower) or 8 weeks base (E/M 14 and higher) AND 1.5 weeks per year of service … max 26 weeks
So for 8 years of employment you should get 16 weeks if severance.
I'm sorry to the marketing manager of 8 years and got a package and others It is a weird feeling I went through a roller coaster of emotions but then you really do get over it. I can't stress enough to stay on top of your paperwork. Get it signed and turned in on the day they advised. Send your resume
to yourself if it's saved at work.sounds like people got different options. I can try to answers any questions you may have just going through it myself. If I may suggest you transfer your fidelity 401 k IRA etc account from Elevance account to your own or into another firm. I just completed this. Did everyone only get a 30 day notice ? Blessings friends
@2muz+1quqlVHp Severance is 4 weeks base pay plus 2 weeks per year of service. If you have been there 8 years the. That doesn’t sound right.
It isn’t just Care…
@2zea+1quqlVHp what departments in Carelon? Carelon is large and diverse
They honestly do not care that we have a family to support. I agree those who do minimal work will be kept employed.
8 years down the drain with them. I am a marketing manager and was let go this morning first thing. I feel it is due to upper management did not like that I disagreed with a decision they made. They keep those who do minimal work it seems. I was offered 10 weeks pay that was all. 2/9 is my last day.
For those wondering, Carelon has started today. A bunch of RIFs.
Got RIFed a few hours ago. Was taken care of with a package. Feels like getting kicked in the cr---h, but it’s business, and people all over get RIFed constantly everywhere. It hurts, just keep your chin up and start looking for a new one right away.
I’m so sorry for those being laid off!!
What departments?
For those sharing they were included in this round, for what it’s worth, I’m very sorry. It happened to me in 2020 after 37 years with the company. I was able to get back in, but it’s a horrible experience. I wish you all the very best! ❤️
It is happening. I got laid off today too. A few coworkers as well.
