Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Stages of Grief

Are we all going through the Stages of Grief? Just judging by these boards:

  1. Denial

First announcements, everyone was in shock. How can they do this? Are they stupid? They will lose good people! It doesn't make sense!

  1. Anger

A couple of days later. F. Stankey (or insert your group's "leader"). AT&T is going down, there is no saving it! This company was always garbage!

  1. Bargaining

Maybe they'll change their minds? What if they can't get hubs ready in time? Maybe we can work for another year and then get severance? Maybe a city I'm in will be one of the hubs?

  1. Depression

This is today. How can anyone concentrate at work? How are you all getting through the week after this news? There are no other opportunities in the industry. The leadership had failed us. :'(

And lastly,

  1. Acceptance

We're gradually getting there. This is likely exactly why they're dragging it out and making people wait and crave any new information. Once we reach the "Just give me my severance and let me go" state, they will finally pull the trigger. The deal might not be as good as we hope, but at that point, most of us will just be tired and won't care anymore.

"I haven't "cared" for 5 years or more. Just gimme my sevrance."

I heard there is a spelling test involved in order to get it. You may want to start studying.

The art of natural attrition is such a powerful tool for management. JTS is making AT&T great once again by eliminating dead weight.

The reason people are saying no severance is because VP's and AVP's have started walking the severance statement back. They are now saying some will qualify for severance.

Yeah, I can't understand why people keep saying this bs about not getting severance. It's in AT&T's best interest to let people leave with this relatively small, hush money amount, if you will. They will gain nothing but a pain in the a-s if they force people out without severance pay. Literally, no reason not to pay it, and they already proactively stated they will. So, guys, please stop it.

“ You are going to be really disappointed soon“

Stop with the no severance BS. If they tell you you must relocate hundreds of miles and you don’t, you’re involuntarily terminated. And you’re eligible for severance.

Why do you get you jollies spreading even more unnecessary doom and gloom?

Yes I know what you mean. I am at the point of let’s get on with it. I’m over the emotions. It’s annoying!
