will CVX stop ki-ling people in 2023?

Last year many lives were lost. This year just started with the explosions in Kazakhstan RV and the loss of life. Will CVX stop milling people?

Can RM and HR performance get finally reviewed and see how they drained the company from its critical talent that is needed for their safe operations?

Can we have lessons learned on the past layoffs done by third party investigators?

Will Chevron stop using their security team (RM Oligarch) for spying on employees who speak up and use them to actually review real threats rather than chasing whistle blowers?

Will CVX finally get rid of the venomous head of People and get detoxed?

The thing that I remember most about the CPL Safety Revival Years under Becky, then Randy was the great events. They brought in great speakers, and we even went to a Dude Ranch kind of place, ate BBQ, and got to learn to quick draw with real six sho-ters. Those were good times.

Reading these last two notes brings back a lot of wonderful memories. I vividly recall the remarkable efforts undertaken to enhance the performance of Chevron CPL. As someone who retired in 2017, I fondly remember two managers who made a lasting impact: the HES Manager in 2014 (who subsequently retired after relocating to the east) and the MCBU Manager who joined us in 2015 (I think he is in corporate now). Their infectious enthusiasm inspired management involvement and earned us recognition from various entities for our exemplary HES practices.

The guy was affectionately referred to as "Mr. Monday," as he consistently shared uplifting messages with an HES focus at the beginning of each work week. As a result of their initiatives, Chevron CPL was featured in a positive light across 17 different publications. Their leadership style, characterized by transparency, honesty, and concision, is a rare quality that I wish more individuals possessed.

The sad part is that I can't remember either of their names.

According to insiders in Midland at Chevron's MCBU, the organization's finest management teams are now in the rearview. The period between 2010 and 2015 was a golden era of leadership that deftly navigated the volatility of market conditions. The FE and OPs teams during this time are widely considered to be the most competent and effective in Midland's history. Notably, this era also marked the first time that HSE leadership actively listened and was part of the team in MCBU, leading to the lowest incident rates, spills and a marked increase in productivity. If given the chance, many at MCBU would undoubtedly turn back the clock to this exceptional time in the organization's history.

Not so much that CVX destroyed it’s safety culture, but more that they dismantled it with no thought to what it would now be. CPL is a good example, our leadership made a concentrated effort, put money behind it, and even brought in some people from MCBU, GOM, and other places to help, sharing their successes. In a short period of time we built a robust safety culture that was real. Then virtually overnight, poof, gone. With no one in the building who knows where to start.

@4nhs Accidents do happen but not as often as they do now. If executive management had not cut so deep with layoffs and then destroyed the morale of the company with all the changes then we would probably be at the low level we had been at before. Management has got to do something to help morale and boost employee well being. Based on the CIP this year they are not going to do it and continue to focus on the shareholders at the employees expense.

If HR main goal is to keep and reward the right level of Talent then what is their job that can not be replaced by a robot or AI

RM was supposed to do her job and out the policies in place that aid the business. So if a layoff has to happen, she needs to make sure that there is no personal biases and things are business driven
She would ensure we have the policies that protects and keep the needed talents for safe execution not the friends of the managers or the useless lip service chevrods

Instead, she focused on making HR a business on its own, destroyed moral, allowed managers abuse of talented workers, depleted the company talent by either quitting or laid off as they are not well connected to the decision makers despite their critical skills that are needed for business

She made Chevron a very toxic and hostile place and the result is fatalities, poor safety record, low moral, hostility, discrimination and full of lip service empty no substance unethical leaders

She is the reason and the longer she stays that more lives we will lose

She thinks people who write their opinion here as laid off disgruntled ex employees and she does not realize that she closed all the venues for hard working employees to actually speak up rather than making the company environment toxic and stressful.

This self serving person must go or the place will collapse fast

HR is not to blame for the destructive layoffs. Look to executive management who lay off constantly to bump up stock buybacks and dividends. They destroyed the morale of the company.

She cannot take any feedback. She only knows how to bully and use the company resources such as lawyers and her Russian KGB style security Oligarch to protect herself.

This post will be deleted in couple hours max. The place is corrupted and rotten to the core because of her and that is why god people have left in droves and left her miserable leadership despite the high pay. She does not care about lives. She only understand $$ in her pocket.

The longer she stays, the more lives will be lost and the more toxic and hostile Chevron is.
You can not put a lipstick n a pig and call it beautiful. It is still a pig. All the changes in the lowers tanks for not mean anything when the top of HR is venomous and toxic.

2net+1lnmSPBv totally agree the only thing that matters in the company now is personal wealth creation....no matter how many of the workers die and leave behind families to struggle....as long as the money keeps flowing no one cares the new company culture...eminating from the top

People still talk about bonuses and they forget the value of the lost lives

This person on top of HR have destroyed the company core. The honesty, the ethics, the compassion, the right mindset

Chevron in few years changed to become the worst image of corporate America just because of one bad leader made it to the top.

If she does not leave and soon, the company will be trash

Not really, this a good excuse not to pay to the employees, this is a sweet spot for MW and the board to blame it on people and avoid paying any meaningful CIP or salary adjustment related to the total profit.

Hard to do once you lose it. CVX found it for a period a decade or so ago with great initiatives but when it's gone it's doubtful that you can get it back. plus the change agents are long gone.
