Surplussed in Dallas

Is it true only people above age 50 are surplussed in Dallas after relocating? I heard many people who moved got surplussed after their move. Was there any reason given for surplus or just told your position is eliminated?

And don't forget to add salary to the equation. Usually the older you are or more tenured, means you are in the high end of your salary range and earn the most vacation. So when HR sorts the lists by salary, you will definitely float to the top, the ideal place to be a layoff candidate.

@ce 'You're' is the correct contraction for 'you are'. However, 'your' suggests possession or ownership. Lacking fifth grade level english and grammar skills does not impress those of us who cringe when reading comments like these.

It is true. Only JS is safe and even that he is old fa-t, nobody can touch him. Not even a BOD.

@a4 yes lowest performance and those who did not play the political game right or look in front of leadership. There were a decent number of talented and top performers people gone because they didn’t kiss up to their leadership.

Been telling you for a little over a year , from day one the target was "over 50 " and the first people on the list were the ones that relocated. The relocation was always a gamble that the people would not relocate and the company would not have to pay severance. That was ALWAYs the plan. It is STILL the plan. If you are white, over 50, and have a large amount of years at the company, you are on the LIST. It's all timing .

Your replacement worker in Bangalore will never see a pension and isn’t covered under ERISA or any other government law however weak they might be. Get the picture - if your American your are expendable and if your American over 50 you will soon be expended as Raj and Sanjay in Bangalore are a done a dozen to T.

They do not have to give a reason, and age discrimination is an argument you have to make in court. They will never respond to any inquiries along those lines. But to answer your question, of course those are the ones being laid off. They hit just enough younger people to keep the justice department from investigating.

@b5 his day will come in his retirement. The universe has a lot of bad karma is waiting for him for all the pain he’s caused others.

I know someone who exactly fits this mold: high performer, over 50, moved to Dallas. And “performance” can always be easily manipulated when you want to target certain groups. Take a look at what has been going on at Meta.

@b3
Stankey is like a cockroach, he will survive everything while good people suffer under his filth.

Him being prosperous is evidence of how unfair the world is. The people who most deserve to suffer rarely do.

@a4 "Those who were surplussed were the lowest performers"

So, how do we get rid of the lowest performing CEO in corporate history?

Yup. Age matters!

@a4 Not necessarily the lowest performers. My boss played basketball with W, softball with X, golfed with Y - was "married and DATING Z" and had no clue what the rest of us were doing. I just mushroomed and did my job, didn't brown nose and performed. It's who you know, play games with, have X XX with. Not performance.

@af as I stated lower performers are always impacted with these layoffs, was this younger employee a top performer or did he rank lower than the other team members?

@a9 the youngest employee in our division was surplused. That’s based on the nationwide footprint. It is not always the oldest employee but it certainly swems that way.

The company would never admit to targeting older employees, but they certainly do go out of their way to hide it and fly under the radar of the government! For example, they will spread layoffs of a given job title across multiple locations to avoid triggering WARN in a single location. Also spreading it over a larger span of time to avoid the same trigger. HR and “The Man” knows all the slimmy methods to sc--w the employee and get away with it!

@a4 I think that you are the same troll poster who always spews $h*+ here on this site with hurtful comments like your nothing burger posts, and are also lsomeone who does not know how things work at t.
For everyone else, while lower performers are always impacted with these layoffs, to say that the close to 5k-7k employees impacted by these recent layoffs were bare minimum employees is one of the more ignorant comments you’ll read here today, this past round of layoffs specifically targeted older employees, look around and see whose gone as of July 01st, for example in our organization most if not all that that were let go were the older employees many who were also top performers with high stack rankings in tableau, don’t believe me, if you’re part of a sales organization look at the Tableau rankings for the past 3 months and see whose gone and how many of the sellers who are have a 70% or lower ranking are still on payroll. Salary ranges and legacy pension were 2 of the key driving factors this last round, and with the goal to get to sub 75k employees with the next 2 rounds later this year and into 2027 you’ll continue to see more good people let go. #fireJohnStankey

Those who were surplussed were the lowest performers on their teams as determined by direct leadership. When team rankings were done, they fell at the bottom. Most were bare minimum employees. Location won’t save anyone not generating results.
