@qq Cox is being acquired by Charter. On day one all Cox employees will become Charter employees. Then Charter will decide who to keep over the next 18 months.
I think the Cox Enterprises health plan covers more edge cases, but overall healthcare is similar.
If you were hired before 2017 you have pension and will no longer accrue service years on close, and depending on your age and years of service you may or may not get retiree healthcare. Post 2017 got an enhanced 401k with an automatic contribution even if you didn't contribute.
Salaried employees got unlimited PTO. We really didn't track it. Not sure if this is still the case but hourly employees got to cash out unused PTO in December.
Returning to the office and a stricter dress code will su-k. Everyone is spread out. The rule was you had to live in a Cox market or Atlanta. I'm not in the same city as my team mates. A lot of us are being told that if you are asked to relocate or get a pay cut you can take a package. The package details will come from Charter. I don't think anyone is expecting them to be as generous as a Cox package.
I look at it this way. The big reason for this deal are the "cost synergies". Charter has 92k employees and Cox has around 15k. Does Charter need 15k extra employees to support Cox's customers. If post merger they plan on cutting 10% to 15%, that's 10.7k to 15k people. Will all those be on the Cox side? Probably not. The merger will also give Charter cover to reduce staff without taking a hit to the stock price.
There were rumors posted here that Charter didn't want Cox to lay off any more people because they were looking for fresh talent. Who knows what Charter wants to keep from Cox. That said, a lot of Cox people have been leaving.
The big thing for a lot of Cox people that do end up staying will be the culture shift. Cox has a very chill culture. It's called Cox Nice. I'm not saying conflict doesn't exist, but I've been on some calls with Charter people, I don't want to get into specifics, some of the behavior of the Charter people would have resulted in their manager saying something in their next 1 on 1.
