After the June 15th VTP (Voluntary Termination Pay up to 104 weeks) announcement for a bunch of Leg T CWA union workers as well as much rumor going around for more of the same in September and December, I wonder what the people now say who adamantly exclaimed that there will never be a VTP. It would be interesting to hear how they rationalize or explain this now.

Company is making targeted VTP offers, which can be made anytime without a surplus.
@pn
Lol, Ive earned more than any manager ive ever had. But kudos for claiming youll retire at 50. Good luck with that. Maybe Ma Bell can sell you some 2nd hand office furniture. The 5 legged kind of chairs....ya know, the ones that can hold up ummm, larger people that cant see their toes
It is rather funny to think that when we're surplussed, union workers actually get more than managers. The termination pay for union workers is more than severance pay for managers. Medical, dental and vision insurance benefits are much better for union workers than managers. We're all going to eventually be laid off - it's inevitable - however when that day comes, union workers are better off than managers.
@pn A bunch of us are laughing our a$$es off at you! Hah we make more $$ than what you said plus some of us are retiring in our late 40's to early 50's with two years pay plus much better benefits than you get. Haha you are such a little doosh f'n bag! haha
@cv 58 is hardly an “early” retirement lmfao. What are they paying you over there? $20 an hour? Ge-z. Maybe those union dues are too expensive. I’ll be retiring in 5 years at the age of 50. That’s what an early retirement looks like in management.
@ew 26 union workers in Minnesota got the VTP on June 15th. This is a fact.
If the offer was real and received then why are you still posting here hoping for it? Newsflash. You will never see this made up offer.
@ax
The bitterness and jealousy is how we know everyone replying are real class acts. Congrats to the OP. Enjoy your future.
See how that works?
@ae
I started at 24 years old. Im now 58. Grab a couple friends and count eachothers fingers and toes and you might figure out how many years worked i have. All that OT in the 90s didnt seem worth it then but is paying off now. So dont mind me, ill just sit here and crow about early retirement. Enjoy your commute.
@ad
Whaaa. Get off your couch and get back into the office or quit Chair jockey.
@a3 you won’t get paid for the personal days. Use them before the 7/17
any negative comments on this subject are being made by management slugs!!
either they are mad for going management and now the company can bend them over as they see fit, or they were hired off the street after 07 and don't even have a pension to look forward to when they do retire!
they just got hit with a big layoff and all they got was a kick in the arsenal!!!
and by the way 30 years is easy when you started here in your 20s you buffoons!!!
so as I had previously said we did get some buyouts last quarter, not many but we did get a few and I am in district 6.
The gloating is how we know you are a real class act. Try not to spend it all on above ground pools and underpinning for the trailer.
Wishful thinking.
@ab The OP did get the 104 weeks VTP so haha....
@ad It did happen! 26 union workers in Minnesota got VTP on June 15th and a few more got it in a few other states so haha the OP gets the last laugh.
@ae The OP gets the last laugh starting working right after high school and now 20 years short of your presumable 70 assumption of me. Hahahaaa you little silly one.
@a1 you apparently care because you're here on this layoff page wondering what about other workers getting laid off. You most likely are jealous that a bunch of union workers got the big payout to leave and you're just a minion bootlicker who gets peanuts and carrots. Ha haaaa...
@ah 26 Leg T CWA workers in Minnesota got the VTP. You may see that on the Local 7250 fb page or website.
There were no offers, get over it. I’m Leg T union and there no offers given and any would have been posted on the CWA website.
If you stayed around long enough to get 104 weeks, you must be pushing 70 at least. I am not sure you have a lot to crow about still working at your age.
Shut up with this already. You will get nothing, don’t you realize that. You cannot speak it into existence. Boo HoO hOo, get over it or quit, union sc-m
They know what it’s going to cost them and if it’s 200k it could be too much. They’ll look elsewhere to cut. Also you didn’t get the 104 and never will.
You need 30 years with T to get the 104 weeks, Post is written as if every CWA member gets the full payout. I wish.
Don't forget we also get any leftover vacation and personal days paid out on top of the 2 years of pay.
who da fk cares. Enjoy your life and be gone.
