Thread regarding Gainwell Technologies layoffs

Absolutely dreading going to work tomorrow

Tomorrow I’m logging into Gainwell, and honestly, I’m not happy before I even open my laptop. I’m just a regular worker, not some big-degree expert, just someone who learned by doing and is hanging on to this job because I have to and definitely not because the company makes me feel safe or valued. My boss is from Florida and she’s loaded - big house, fancy trips all the time, talking about “recharging” like the rest of us aren’t sitting here praying our name doesn’t end up on the next layoff list. When she says “we all have to tighten our belts,” I want to laugh, because if I get cut, I’m worrying about rent and food, and if she sc--ws up, she still has money stacked and options everywhere.

I see what’s going on in upper management. People are getting worked to the bone, jobs are being shipped off to cheaper places, and they slap the word “strategy” on it like that makes it smart instead of cruel. They sit in their meetings while people like me are burning out, stressed, and scared, wondering if today everything falls apart. Tomorrow I’ll still log in and do my job because I don’t have the luxury not to. My rich boss will be just fine no matter what happens at Gainwell. It’s people like me who get crushed when this place decides we’re just numbers on a spreadsheet.

@1yv Dude. I get you are frustrated but I think you are making lots of assumptions here. I’m not the person you are trashing here but it seems to me that you are frustrated that they were able to successfully leave Gainwell and get away from such a horrible company. If you have already given up why are you even on this site? Instead of trashing some innocent person that has found a way to be successful maybe you can allow that to inspire you to try something new.

I am sorry for your loss. I hope you can fimd peace.

@1yv Sorry for your loss. My heart aches for you. I find myself in a similar situation. Not quite at retirement age with a medical condition to where I cannot afford to lose this job as lousy as management may treat us as I need good insurance. The consistent monthly WFRs are quite simply terrifying.

OK, since you ask, smug privileged twit who know thinks he knows everything. For me, I'm over retirement age. So absolutely nobody will hire me. And I can't quit due to medical debt incurred while my wife was dying of cancer. So "just try harder to find a job or leave" is a sick joke. You spout off without knowing anything about peoples circumstances. Entitled keyboard warriors like you are just disgusting.

@Curious Too

Do tell. What are these other reasons? They sound like excuses to me. Sit around and complain about how terrible it is to work for Gainwell but be unwilling to do anything about it. Or unwilling to leave.

True, future jobs and success don't wait for you to show up. Also true, if you truly want a new job and success you must put in the effort. To the ex-GWT pontificators on this thread who have never procrastinated in any aspect of their lives or on any decision they needed to make, you can proceed with jabbering because you would then be considered perfect. My guess is there are other reasons why someone hangs on to something that's not good for them to hang on to.

Although I don't work for Gainwell know (Rebadged employee), I might as well be. Because nothing has changed from my perspective. In fact it is worse, because Gainwell works over time, trying to pass the buck to the contractors when things break or go south. It doesn't matter that they made a bad choice or mismanaged a resource for years, as soon as it breaks, It's the contactors fault. (Whose only had the asset for 6 months under their management) Mike G. and the other managers throughly disgust me

Gainwell dictates to the contractor on what to do and how to do it Basically the contactrator is hands on, it's still Gainwell calling the shots. Thus nothing will change, only the group who will get the ultimate blame.

Gainwell must think everyone but them is stupid and we can't see the writing on the wall. Oh, just the opposite.

Personally, I prefer to be ground down and be the last one standing. Been there done that

@wy I could not agree more.

People need to stop whining and start doing something about it. Get out there and find a job instead of sitting back and hoping to be laid off so you can draw unemployment.

I am very close to landing another job. Yeah the job market is a little tough but there are plenty of jobs. Just have to work hard to get one.

@w5 Hahahaha. I have just switched jobs. No more Gainwell. I have experienced the job market.

I get that you are frustrated. And Gainwell is definitely a terrible company. But I can admit that it was a bad decision on my part to even go to work for them. That decision is on me. I should have done my homework first. But I also made the choice to get out and beat the street looking for another job. And now I have found one and left that company. So I am experiencing the current job market. My advice is to do the same. Put in some work and find another job. Jobs aren’t going to come find you.

You can call it a smug attitude if you want. But I’m owning my decisions and I put in the work to leave that place.

@th What an arrogant bunch of assumptions you are making. You are the infantile one, so superior in your own mind. Gainwell owes me nothing but the employment terms promised. And they have made it clear we owe them nothing beyond that either. Employment at will works both ways. Almost everyone I know (myself included) is looking and ready to take the next reasonable option we find. I hope you get the chance soon to personally experience the current job market. See how long your smug attitude lasts then. You can always eat cake.

@p6 Option 3 is to just find a new job and leave Gainwell. Even thinking that you only have two options places you in the category of thinking that Gainwell owes you something. You obviously think you are a victim. Time to grow up and find a new job and move on. Admit that you made a poor decision by deciding to work for Gainwell. But they don’t owe you anything. And like others have said, getting away from them is definitely your best choice. Not trying to milk them for some pity money.

@p6 I have not found the job market to be as bad as everyone is making it sound. It simply comes down to getting out there and finding a job. Applying. Interviewing. Networking. Putting in some effort. Jobs are not going to just come to you. You have to get out there and finding them.

Sitting around complaining and wanting to be laid off is giving up. Most successful people didn’t just wake up one day and find success waiting for them.

@m4 People would rather be laid off because the alternatives are 1) quit without a new job or any income at all or 2) stay and be ground down by Gainwell management. In case you didn't get the memo, the job market su-ks right now. Floods of people laid off due to corporate AI fantasies. More fake job listings and scams than actual hiring. Offshoring isn't just a Gainwell thing. Etc Etc

I don’t understand why people are wanting to get laid off. Unemployment doesn’t last forever. Why not just find another job and leave? Besides unemployment pays Pennies compared to having a job.

Everyone should get as far away from Gainwell as possible. As fast as you can.

@b5 There needs to be a staged walkout. And never return.

Wait until you see your merit increase this year or lack thereof. Talk about shady. This place won’t be satisfied until a staged walkout happens or everyone leaves

@a6 Ditto. Except now, I want them to lay me off, get a bit of severance, get to file unemployment, etc.
