Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Admins at Centene?

How likely is it that they eliminate administrative staff? On the one hand, they wouldn't function well without us, on the other hand they constantly underestimate how much operational impact we have. I'm just getting tired of worrying about job stability every couple of years. Maybe it's time to take the exit. IDK...

they won't eliminate all administrative staff, but a lot will be on the chopping block. AI can help with some of the work to be completed depending on the nature of it.

those who have a Project Manager/Program Manager title are high risk in my opinion... but this job title is not treated the same throughout the organization. some are glorified assistants, while others are strategic and manage/oversee complex projects.

@a2 In all honesty, and this does not get talked about nearly enough, the human brain (even amongst engineers) was never designed to be making complex critical thinking decisions 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Our brains need certain number of hours throughout the day for rote activities to break up those difficult critical thinking hours.

AI will produce burnout on an exponential accelerated rate. And will those same employees get paid a lot more for needing to constantly make critical thinking decisions all day long that AI was not able to handle? I think not.

My opinion is get some AI training behind you. AI will continue to change the workplace, but it will not erase the role of business administrative assistants. Instead, it will push the role to grow. You will spend less time on routine jobs and more time on decision-making and human connections.
