Union guy here and still waiting for a surplus. There's a job in AUTS so the likelihood of one is pretty low.

Funny how human nature is: jealousy, resentment, envy, denial, disgruntled anguish, etc regarding union members getting paid big money to leave, especially since it's way more than what managers get. And then the ongoing medical, dental and vision benefits are much better than what managers get as well. It just goes to show you and prove how bad it would s u c k to be a manager especially nowadays.
Your union went from having 30k AT&T members in District 9 to about 8k in 10 years.

So if you’re a senior guy, you’re very safe, they’ll just cut the guys with no seniority so that the contract doesn’t apply.
They can't just cut loose the lower seniority techs. They're required to offer a buyout to the most senior techs first.
@OP District 6 contract ripped AT&T hard. District 3 Mobility black contract is coming up in February. Watch em' District 3 hard.. particularly WFM before the end of the 3rd quarter.
Like we’ve been saying, won’t be some massive offer like others keep posting about. As others have posting you might get a handful for the entire district at best if any at all. Cheaper to keep you guys. They wouldn’t put all that in the contract if they ever planned to actually use it. Think about it. So if you’re a senior guy, you’re very safe, they’ll just cut the guys with no seniority so that the contract doesn’t apply.
Wait a minute-If I don't get on the surplus list, how am going to get my 104 weeks of pay and freedom?
Each district contract is different. D9 doesn't get 104 weeks. We get a max 53 weeks + $25000. That's a nice little bonus for the retirement eligible.

It's true. None of the lower seniority techs need to worry about being forced out with the number of techs who'll gladly take a buyout the company is required to offer per the contract.
