I know people swipe in at noon and leave at 5 no issues. As long as you don’t have to swipe out.

In our group, we were told 8-9am badge in and 5pm cut off in our local time zone.

This is the same for the VPN report, which I don't think is used much, if at all, anymore, unless a manager requests it.

That's why I did most of my work offline and VPN'ed like crazy before 8am/after 5pm each day. (Hey, it worked for years! Never called out on it, not even once.)

When the pandemic came to an end, many people who had been working from home assumed they would be allowed to maintain that habit at least a few days a week. But today in the U.S., a third of companies have forced everyone back to the office full time and have banned remote and hybrid work.

Some leaders say they insist on full-time in-person work because it boosts productivity, despite clear evidence that it does not. Others claim it’s about collaboration, creativity or culture. Our new research reveals that the objection to any work from home is more likely to be driven by something else entirely: ego.

Case by case, there may be good reasons for teams to work together in person. As a general rule, though, it turns out that ordering people back to the office full time is a power and status move. It’s a signature strategy of leaders who exhibit narcissistic qualities. They see any kind of remote work as a threat to their authority and admiration. They want to be worshiped at the office altar.

I come in between 5am and 5:30am and leave at 1pm then WFH for another 1-2 hours. Zero issues.

At what time and date will BOA crack down on the fake excuses to not RTO?

For context, I am exempt and my schedule in Workday is 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. While my LOB works a traditional day shift, there are several teams in the office that work varying schedules, including evening shifts.

I had a situation where I took 4 hours of approved PTO and then worked the remaining 4 hours from the office between approximately 6:30 PM and 10:30 PM. Despite badging into the office and working that day, I was subsequently reflected as out of compliance.

Based on that experience, I suspect office presence may be evaluated against an employee’s scheduled work hours, Workday schedule, or potentially team/LOB-specific parameters rather than simply whether a badge swipe occurred at any point during the day. However, I don’t know the exact logic being used.

This may ultimately become less relevant though, if VPN/network presence becomes the primary method used to determine compliance going forward.

Why would you think there is a cut off. You swipe your badge, it gets logged and stored in the computer. 24/7/365.

I don't believe it does as there are people who work on shifts and weekends that still have to be in the office. Somehow they are getting credit for being there.
