Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

This was once a great company

Left late last year after 20 yrs w/ the company. When I started vz was the best company to work for. Took care of employees, customers and advancement opportunities were endless.

Ever since the Vodafone buyout happened in 2012/2013 it’s been a sinking ship. Less and less executives who worked up through the company, bad ideas (go 90, hum, etc), resources and support gone, outsourced CS, ripping off the customer, micromanaging thru the roof and layoffs every year.

It’s a shame but that’s corporate America these days.

And the leaders are all paid actors that just say how great the company is doing while it is clearly going down the toilet. The delusion is real.

@fs @fs I could not agree more with you on this. Anyone could have run the company in the early days but when they needed to be creative and have innovative ideas, much of the senior management was found to be lacking.

I will say that the early network managers were good.

I know people that work for the competition and they are living the golden age over there. It's just us.

It was great when the industry was easy and people were clamoring to buy products. That has changed, which requires true leadership. Those put in leadership positions are unqualified and unable to build the business properly, so it became a comedy of errors, lack of effective strategy and a horrible place to work.
